load any flight or activity with the plane. On 3 occasions the plane did load properly but I cannot reproduce this.

My mistake. The problem has NOT been solved! What could cause the cockpit interior to go missing?

I cannot reproduce your issue, C152 looks good on my side:

Could you try to run MSFS in Safe mode ?. The only way I know to start that way is once MSFS is running in normal mode, you need to kill MSFS.exe from your task manager so that when you restart the sim you’ll have the safe mode option.

DementedCorn237 is right, it does look like it could be a mod conflict.
Starting the sim in Safe Mode loads the sim with no mods, so if all is good when you start in Safe Mode, the issue is a mod conflict.

Sorry for the confusion; I forgot that I had added my community folder back. in the process of troubleshooting installation issues. Tthe problem is with one of the mods. I could not find my post to retract my comment.

Have you checked the airplanes model.cfg
See if there is somthing like ; or // or rem in front of the last interior line

If there is than this is the reason why there is no interior visible in the sim from the outside of the plane
