Asobo/Carenado Cessna 408 just came out for MSFS2020?

Am I crazy or is this real? I can’t find any info, videos or reviews anywhere…

Hello @maximus3688,

For the past several weeks, we have been releasing many first-party aircraft from MSFS 2024 onto the MSFS (2020) Marketplace. The goal is to backport as many of the aircraft as possible to MSFS (2020), although certain aircraft types won’t be available because they require core sim tech upgrades that are only available in MSFS 2024.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

[Moderator edit: please do not ping the Community Managers] Is the iniBuilds Airbus family set to come to 2020 also?

Jorg shared a screenshot of which aircraft are planned to be back-ported to 2020 in the October development livestream, here.

I don’t know if this is really meant to reflect future plans - the gray checkmarks indicate aircraft originally released with 2020 and the green checkmarks indicate 2024 aircraft that have already been ported to 2020 via the Marketplace (as of the time of the release of this image). There doesn’t seem to be an indicator for aircraft that have not been ported but will be.

If I understood what Jorg was saying, there are still ~29 that should be back-ported at some point. These are the ones without a green or grey checkbox. A few - such as the balloons - cannot be back-ported as they require 2024-only tech.

I will personally be very surprised if all the traditional fixed wing and rotorcraft make it into 2020 - I feel like there’s a certain level of cannibalization they want to avoid that would be caused by aircraft like the iniBuilds A330s or even the 737 MAX making their way to 2020. But that’s entirely my own speculation and very well could be wrong!

I’m wondering if this is the same version with the same bugs as in 2024 or one that had some fixes already?

I’m especially curious about the engine display where it only shows data for one engine

Will this be free on 2020 for those of us that paid for the aviator edition?

The Beechcraft C90gtx from Carenado that was brought over to 2020 has issues with the MFD not showing engine information correctly. My guess is, get these to 2020 asap and make money, don’t worry about quality or if everything works as it should.

So far, it appears that if the 2024 aircraft is exclusive to the Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, or Aviator editions of MSFS 2024, it will be available to you in MSFS (2020) for free (assuming you’re using the same account, obviously). If the aircraft is from the Standard edition of MSFS 2024, it would not be free/included for anyone in MSFS (2020).

TL;DR - yes, if it follows the same rules that other 2024 ports have followed so far.

Does it by any chance include a cargo variant?

Edit: IT DOES!!! (Happy dance in progress!)

Second edit: Is there a manual?

No, I don’t believe Carenado provides manuals for any of their default aircraft (which this is in 2024).

I find it quite silly that you guys are charging for aircraft we already own in FS2024 for FS2020, I own Aviators Edition of 2024 and Premium Deluxe of FS2020, I shouldn’t have to pay for the 2020 versions of the FS2024 back ported aircraft. I have FS2020 and FS2024 on the same MS Accounts and On Steam.

Aircraft beyond the standard edition should not need to be repurchased in 2020 - I believe the 408 (and C90GTX) being buyable instead of already owned (like other Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, and Aviator aircraft) is a glitch to be opened up as a ticket with Zendesk.
