Don’t confuse IFR minima with VFR possibilities. 15 in and 33 out is by far the norm - over 90% of the time, but it is possible to circle to land 33, especially when VFR. Takeoff from runway 15 is also possible, but has to have written prior permission and requires a very steep climb gradient (688’/NM).

IFR departure RW33.LINDZ9.JNC filed, but still getting RW15

Personal Comments and Observations

Well, the ATC isn’t able to do the wink-wink nudge-nudge move that ASE tower does IRL - giving at the moment wind readings that allow someone to take off or land without violating the cross or tailwind ratings of their aircraft.

I just pretend I’m allowed to Circle to Land, which would be a great privilege personally.

Of course, the way to potentially programmatically solve this is to close the field until the winds die down, and force everyone to divert to KRIL (Rifle).

The sim can’t recreate every aspect; some of this has to be gameplay on the part of the user.
