Hi, I just got a Logitech throttle quadrant. By default it works perfectly for propeller aircraft.
Now I want to get it working for airliners as well. I.e. I would like to assign the most left lever to spoiler axis and the most right handle to flaps axis.
It works fine for the spoiler axis. However I cannot get it working for the flaps axis. I know that the axis does not have the fixed/detent positions that you would normally have for the flaps positions.
There exist two types of flaps axis that you can assign:
- Flaps axis
- Flaps axis (0 to 100%)
I can assign them to my right throttle lever (I do see the axis bar move in the assignment settings), but they both have no effect in the cockpit (i.e. the flaps lever does not move when I move my throttle lever). The 1st axis also has a reverse axis toggle, but 2nd has not, but toggling reverse axis on or off, has no effect either.
Can anybody explain the difference between the 2 flaps axis options and does anybody have this working?
Thanks!
As you mentioned, the flaps won’t work with the Logitech lever assigned to the flap axis.
What I did, was assign it to the button under the right handle.
Bottom press of the button for “Increase Flaps” and the top press for “Decrease Flaps”
Doing so also gives you two throttle levers, one for each engine, and the spoiler lever (as you have set it up already) on the left where it should be.

Thanks, then I will go for that approach. And having the two remaining axes assigned to the engines sounds like a good solution as well.
I tried this, but when I assign throttle 1,2 axis to lever 2 and 3, moving the levers also seems to move the reverse thrust levers and then moves the throttles themselves.
Or do I need another axis?
There’s also throttle axis (0 to 100%), which seems to do the same. What should the difference be?
That’s really disappointing. I had not heard of this limitation before. Is there something specific with the Logitech design that prevents this? I always thought that MSFS treats an axis as an axis regardless, so long as the controls settings show the axis actually moving/changing in the game.
There are no detents on my V1F quadrant, but it properly sets intermediate flap positions on airliners and GA planes based on the amount I move the axis.
That I can’t answer.
I’ve had it for years now, never could get it to work with a flap axis, even in the older sims!
I don’t know if this will be helpful, but here are how the four levers are configured on my Velocity One Flight quadrant for a two engine airliner (i.e. A320, CJ4)
Note, my 4 levers were fully forward when I took this screenshot.

Well, this mod exists for the Saitek/Logitech quadrant:
The flap lever is attached to the right lever, so from this video I would assume it has to work somehow.
Unfortunately it doesn’t show how it should be configured in the simulator. Maybe it’s not msfs…

Unless it’s xplane.
I couldn’t get the flap axis to work in FSX, FSX steam or P3D right up to v4, but yet it’s product page says it works for all sims.
Seems a bit funny though, it says plug and play, but yet you need to own the throttle already.
From the page:
This product works in all flight simulators.
- Microsoft Flight Simulator X
- Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
- Prepar3D
- X-Plane 11
- etc.
- This product is perceived as a joystick by Windows. That’s why it works in all flight simulators.*
Items that will be sent to you when you buy:
- 1x Speedbrake lever
- 1x Thrust lever (Left and Right)
- 1x Flap lever
- Plug and Play *
I will ship the product to you as “Plug and Play”. You can connect the product to the computer and enjoy flying in the flight simulator.
This product is for saitek throttle quadrant. So you need to have a Saitek throttle quadrant. This product does not include a throttle quadrant.
So I thought I’d try again, no it still doesn’t work as an axis.
What aircraft are you trying to use the flaps axis for? I have a Saitek throttle quadrant and it works just fine for the C152, TBM and Savage Grravel. I also use the flaps axis with my X52 throttle on the Flying Iron P-38 and Carenado C337. Logitech bought Saitek so unless they changed something for some reason your throttle quadrant should work for this just as well as mine
Edit: here’s a photo of my TBM setup to show how I am using it for the flap lever

It won’t work with any of the jetliners.
What command do you bind it to?
Mine is only a few months old, as my dog smashed the older one I had for years.
If flaps axis.is working for you, please show your
Options-Controls menu mappings so Topic Author can attempt a reproduction. Thanks.

Ok well, easy answer to the problem.
Use the correct command.
I was using Flap Axis (0-100%) for the binding.
It doesn’t work.
However, if I open my eyes enough to see the next command in the order, Flaps Axis, it works like a charm.
Thanks All !!

Hey, nothing a few years of debugging can’t fix!

Thanks all! For me it’s now working as well!
I thought I already tried to assign the flap axis (the one without 0-100%), but apparently not.
Still not clear to me though what the purpose of the axis 0-100% is though. Because, according to the description it should snap to the fixed flap positions, but this is how the normal flap axis works also.
