ASUS ROG Ally Optimal Settings?

Has anyone come up with recommendations - below Turbo Mode on the Ally - for how to set up General/Graphics options on this device yet? Would appreciate recommendations.

Theoretically I can get it running well with Custom settings based on High in Turbo Mode, but battery runs out fast (can play it this way plugged in).

I suppose Medium to Medium-High basic settings would be sufficient?

On my ROG Scar Strix III-3 years old, I leave everything at medium, but got new desktop so don’t worry about it now. Better performance if medium, LOD 100 for sure. If high up, not much to see anyway. If low down, performance of plane more important than trees etc.

The limitations in GPU and System RAM on the Ally are a big factor here, unfortunately.

Hello,
As this looks like this is not related to MSFS 2024, I have moved it out of the MSFS 2024 subcategory into Tech Talk.

here first images of MSFS running on ASUS ROG Ally and runs well on medium settings

Okay so since I haven’t been able to find it anywhere else, I’ve made my own list of optimal settings for MSFS2020 on the ASUS ROG Ally:

Fullscreen. 1920x1080. Anti-Aliasing: TAA. Renderscaling- 100. AMD FidelityFX-100. Vsync-Off.Terrain LOD - 100. Offscreen Cache - High. Vector Data - Ultra. Bldgs, Trees, Grass&Bushes - High. Obj LOD - 100. Volumetric Clouds - Ultra. Texture Resolution - High. Anisotropic Filtering- 8x. Texture Supersampling - 4x4. Texture Synthesis - High. Water Waves - High. Shadow Maps - 1536. Terrain Shadows - 512. Contact Shadows - H. WS FX - High. Ambient Occlusion - Medium. Cubemap Reflections - 192. Raymarched Reflections - H. Light Shafts - High. Bloom - Off. Depth of Field - High. Motion Blur - Medium. Glass Cockpit Refresh - Medium. TRAFFIC: Type - Realtime Online. Nameplates - Off. Vehicle, Ground Aircraft, Workers - 50. Land and Sea Traffic - 50. Fauna - 100. Generic Models AI - Off. Traffic Variety - Ultra. Hope that helps!

FT-Looks good to me. Biggest thing is heat at the processor and GPU. ASUS has IMHO the best utility built in the ASUS Armory Crate package. In one screen you can monitor everything and setup several levels of performance. I leave mine in performance if plugged in, and a minimal power plan on battery.

Please NOTE: if using aftermarket Anti-Virus and Firewall, that software may put additional burdens on the processor as it almost continuously scans the system. I use Zone Alarm Next Gen (3 PC License-and had over 600 days left on old license-worked out deal) and when it’s scanning on the laptop, the fan speed is up some to keep CPU cool. I had already replaced the fans in my laptop at the 2 year point as they started to make some bearing noise. Depending on where you purchased, see if that is a warranty item the vendor will do if needed. I did mine on it’s own as I only had 2-year warranty, now if I had contacted vendor, bet they would have sent me fans for free. Changing was not that big a deal, YouTube to the rescue. Good luck.

Good tip. I’m just using Windows Defender on the Ally, no real performance hit.

Traffic choices are always variable, as ever, going back to FSX and earlier. When I’m planning to fly at busy airports, I drop all the traffic options way down, otherwise there’s too much spawning at once and it’s both unrealistic and a huge perf hit.

When I’m out camping in my Got Friends Double Ender, though, I set it all to high as otherwise it can get lonely out there!

Would be nice if Asobo automated this more in ‘2024.
