I love flying the AT 802 firefighting missions. Before SU 2, I was able to complete almost every mission with 100% success; my S ranking was at its maximum.
Since the SU 2, I’ve hardly been able to complete a fire mission successfully. At best, only 1 out of 10 missions was successful, because new bugs kept cropping up. Here’s a selection of the bugs that have been new since SU 2; previously, this mission was almost bug-free.
-
After landing clearance and touchdown on the runway (!), the red penalty pilot error message appears: “Entering the taxiway without permission.” This “good old bug” used to happen when taxiing to the hold short point, but now it happens when landing exactly on the runway after landing clearance.
-
It’s almost not possible to complete and end successfully a mission because the engine can’t be shut down (CTRL+Shift+E), the prop keeps spinning, so the mission doesn’t end. And, in the cockpit, the fuel lever can’t be moved to the OFF position, it always switches back to 100%. In free flight, switching off the engine works normally. The engine shutdown seem to work for some AT 802 fire fighting missions in America.
-
At the other extreme, ironically, the engine simply shuts down after landing without any pilot input (except throttle to idle). Of course there is enough fuel, it always happens right after touching down on the runway or on the water for scooping.
-
The given fire-fighting water scooping place is, e.g., not a lake but an 80 m long fish pond with many individual separated segments for fish farming.
-
The execution time of a swiftly completed, successful mission is counted as 0%. Before SU2 I did all missions at 100% execution time, I haven’t changed my flying performance.
I’m giving up and won’t be flying any more missions in Career Mode.
My impression is that the missions haven’t improved with SU2, but rather have gotten worse. Should we hope for SU3 or the subsequent SUs? No, I’m sure the mission design structure was developed in an AI environment. This makes regular bug fixing through recoding difficult, if not impossible.
