ATC and pilot mispronounce Birmingham, England

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No

Brief description of the issue:

TTS mispronounces Birmingham, England. It currently pronounces it the way Birmingham, Alabama is pronounced, which is wrong.
Here is a video of the proper pronunciation.

I have created several other bugs for mispronunciations, but this one is different. Normally, I would say, edit the three lines below and everything will be fine. However, the first two ones (with the red circles) share a name with Birmingham, Alabama.

Line Current Value Suggested Value
ATCCOM.AGENT_NAME BIRMINGHAM APPROACH.0.tts :red_circle: Birmingham Birmingum
ATCCOM.AGENT_NAME BIRMINGHAM.0.tts :red_circle: Birmingham Birmingum
ATCCOM.AIRPORT EGBB.0.tts Birmingam :purple_circle: Birmingum

:red_circle: Note: These two entries are shared between Birmingham, Alabama and Birmingham, England. A new entry should be made for one of the two airports and the one for Birmingham, England should be changed to have a value of “Birmimgum”.

:purple_circle: Note: This value was changed in SU5 from “Birmingham” to “Birmingam”. This still sounds wrong (see second video below). “Birmingum” sounds a lot more accurate.

Please see the Screenshots section for how this sounds with the suggested changes.

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

This is how the current pronunciation sounds:

This is how the entry with the :purple_circle: sounds after Sim Update 5 with the word “Birmingam” written in the .locPak file (note that this still does not sound right):

This is how it sounds with the suggested pronunciation:

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

  1. Start Microsoft Flight Simulator.
  2. In the World Map, start a flight at EGBB. In the videos, above, I start cold and dark so that I can talk to Birmingham Ground.

I first became aware of this in 1.26.5.0 but it has probably been like this since release.

We need a full Brummie accent selectable, just for fun. I’m sure it mispronounces Airbuz as well.

Your fixed version is better but the intonation is still wrong, it needs to end in a rising tone not a falling tone.

There is only so much I can do. There is no documentation that I have been able to find on how to manipulate the TTS beyond changing letters around.
The ATC bugs I submitted took hours of changes and restarting MSFS to get as good as they are. Feel free to experiment and recommend something better.

Can we get these in one thread so there aren’t 800 of them clogging up the section, please?
