in recent career mode flights Ive started to use the COMMS panel alot more, partly because Im cancelling IFR, but also because the default ‘enter’ auto ack doesn’t work.
but Im finding at times the COMMS panel just does not work…
either
- I do not get the options to send any messages to ATC ,
or - I can send message, but they dont respond.
note: Im not sure if this is career mode related or not, or if its a general ATC issue, as in free flight, I usually just ignore atc 
so to be clear, when this happens, I carefully check that Im on the correct frequency, and its ‘active’. I check the frequency both in the EFB and charts (where available)
but when setting that frequency, I notice the comms dialog panel sometimes doesn’t appear to update (its fine on radio), or it may say ‘not in use’ but with the correct frequency.
the comms panel is still working however, as I can tune to ATIS and get the weather read back. its just not accepting ATC instructions.
also I know generally that airport is ok, as on other flights.. they’ll respond on the same frequency, that id had issues on.
another questions/issue I have is..
why does sometime the COMM dialog panel not have the “tune to nearer airport option” , should this not always be available?
its almost like the comms panel get into an unusable state…
are these common issue that others are having?
do these occur also in free flight?
is there a way to get the radio working again when it seems to be ‘dead’?
