ATC flickering for some aircrafts after some mins of flying

Hi all,

have some strange phenomenon here… There is a Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant (+ Add-On) connected to my computer. When flying with Cessna 152 or Bell helicopter, ATC begins to flicker after some mins (approx 5 - 10) of flying. This doesn’t happen for all of the available aircraft, an Airbus A320 works perfectly fine for example. If TCA Quadrant is not connected, the problem will not appear.

Drivers and firmware are up to date. Any ideas if this is a known issue? What can be done to get this problem fixed? Are there any known workarounds?

Best regards
Markus

Wanted to upload some attachment (video of the issue), but it looks like this is not allowed for new users. Sharing the video via OneDrive instead:

Well, to start, it’s not just ATC, all the electronic gages in the cockpit are flashing at the same frequency as the ATC display as well.
I’ve not heard of this one before.
It could be a conflict with a mod of some kind.
Mod conflicts can cause issues with electrical systems, but normally the electrical system just shuts down completely when that happens.
You may want to try the sim in safe mode to eliminate a mod as a cause.

Although you wouldn’t think it could be port related, as it works with others, you may want to try another port on your PC for the controller, just to see.

Same issue here. I took a personal day Friday for the release… I have not yet tried this on any planes, but on both of the helicopters Bell 407 & Guimbal Cabri G2, both start this “flickering” effect with all electronics about 2 minutes into flight. I also have the Airbus thrustmaster captains edition and thought maybe it was those, but If I disconnected them during flight when the issue occured, it did not correct the issue. I have a razer gaming keyboard, disconnected that and switched to a normal keyboard - same effect. I have gone as far as to export my community folder to make sure this wasnt a conflict elsewhere and that also did not work. I’m currently at a loss and trying to figure out whats going on. I cant imagine what would suddenly kick in and begin some change about 2 minutes into game play.

@MCAP3084 I am going to try this on the Cessna 152 and see if I can duplicate. Have you tried on a helicopter?

I was just about to duplicate this in the cessna 152 also. I took off from KTOL 7, all was good till about 2 mins in, then the electronics seemed to be the only thing impacted. The plane did not fall out of the fly like the helicopter did, however, all the avionics & the ATC started flickering when I opened it up. Same as your issue. The engine continues normally in the Cessna and the gauges seemed to be ok. Just anything that had to do with the electrinics (at first glance) seemed impacted. The radios were flickering power noticeably. Then, I opened up the ATC window (as that’s what you experienced) and duplicated this.

Thank you all for your responses.

@TheSevenflyer
Will check next weekend.

@CyclingSpoon7
For me it behaves exactly like you described it.

If you disconnect the throttle device before creating custom flight, the issue will also not appear for you? Removing the device after the flight has started will have no effect.

Tried different port as proposed - no success, problem still occurs.
Removed all content from community folder - problem still occurs. As mentioned the problem is not related to custom stuff / mods.

Any further ideas?

this same thing is happening to me on MSFS 2020 with all type of aircraft. Electrical flickers- no lights, radio which in turn kills my ATC and VORs. the sim loaded locally, no addon aircraft, just native aircraft that is built in to the sim. I am going to see if I can install a driver version that is one version later. i am at a loss

That helped:

Same issue here. TM TCA Captain pack. Had to remove all ENG bindings on the throttle. A bit of a bummer that this can cause issues, but I use those switches maybe once during startup, and then don’t need to touch them again, so for me it is not vital that those are physical switches (I fly in VR).
