Will ATC ever step you ahead in your flight plan? Say I am flying MZB VOR OCN VOR LAX VOR its common to go direct OCN and bypass MZB
Every IFR flight I have flown ATC would follow each step in my flight plan and never vector me direct to somewhere else… is this going to be implemented?
My workaround is that when I make an IFR flight plan I simply delete the waypoints I don’t want.
A second workaround is to plan direct (GPS/VFR) then request IFR clearance once you are in the air.
The last workaround is to cancel IFR, go direct, then pick up IFR at a later point in the flight (obvioulsy weather and altitude permitting).

What Carlover21 said is exactly what I do.
Not exactly correct wish,
if we talk about shortcuts this can be only depended to actual position, altitude of aircraft and expected DCT to NAV/FIX. Here possible terrain level during shortcut and aircraft altitude need to be taken to account so only real ATC can do correct decision due possible danger with terrain impact. Hope yo understand this so asking for this feature isn’t so simple as to have nice feature.
