So I’m flying a low altitude IFR flight from Las Vegas to Phoenix (so I can see the landscape). On arrival near KPHX, I get my instructions for approach and ATC is giving me instructions to descend. The problem is, if I descended to those altitudes, I’d be crashing into mountains. They’re constantly yelling at me to expedite my decent to 3000 feet when i’m 30 miles out from the airport, and there are mountains over 7000 feet between me and the airport.
Hopefully they can upgrade ATC IQ in further releases, because this is beyond stupid.

Yeah, the ATC is horribly broken.
When that happens i just cancel the IFR and go VFR. Then they stop telling you to decent and for the whole leave you alone. Then when you get closer to the airport you just request to resume IFR. That is one work around for this garbage.
That’s what I ended up doing. Talk about annoying.
And the taxiway ribbons aren’t much better. Following them is helpful at times in complicated areas. Just wish I could toggle them on and off from the cockpit. At times they take you through a bunch of parked planes, buildings, etc.
In this case on my landing in Phoenix, following the markers would have taken me into a building.
I have not tried ATC, does it work for VFR flight following.
Works fine for VFR for the most part. Even works ok-ish most of the time for IFR. It’s just sometimes that it will give you absolutely retarded instructions that following will end up killing you.
Just my opinion: sure, ATC can be wrong. In real life ATC will mostly be right, but can make mistakes too. You’re the pilot and that’s the fun. If ATC in MSFS were perfect, they could just link it to your auto pilot and you could go fishing. Take the ATC faults as an opportunity to actually think and fly.
It will improve over time, probably !
The problem is there is no “cannot comply” option. It’ll repeat the instruction a couple of time and then say “flight following canceled”.

Don´t tell me about ATC issues

happened to me on a short flight from LOWI to LIUG. It went on like that for several minutes. If I descended like that, I would have bumped straight into the alps… hope that this will be corrected with upcoming patches
