Hi all
In IFR flights, when IA is in charge of communications with ATC, suddenly, in its window, the normal flow of messages is interrupted, and for a variable time, neither answers are sent nor new instructions are received. In the ATC window, it can be seen that the options that may be available are grayed out and, therefore, it is not possible to send responses to new instructions or requests, which corresponds according to the moment from which the flow has been interrupted. This situation can persist for a long time, and if it occurs in the vicinity of the destination, it prevents authorization for the approach and landing, making normal completion of the flight impossible. The workaround is to change momentarily to COM 2 and returning to COM 1, doing which the flow resumes, giving the circumstance that, if during the interruption time the point of immediate travel to the communication cut-off has been exceeded, the new Instructions that are displayed may or may not be related to the new point or the previous one.
In the image, it can be seen that the HBU point has been exceeded, the last authorized place as seen in the dialogue in the ATC window, and we are at 177 nm from FIM. The image corresponds to a KJFK-KLAX flight.
The problem has been occurring for quite some time and I cannot say if possibly since the first version
I have the simulator configured in Spanish, and the indicated problem occurs under those circumstances. Changing the language setting to “en-us”, I have made several flights and I have observed that in that language the flow of messages is not interrupted or the options in the ATC window are disabled, so it seems that the problem is related to the configuration in Spanish.
It would be desirable for other users who have a configuration in my Spanish language or also languages such as French or German to check this information, and confirm or deny it.
Thanks.
Hi Furmark, thanks for your reply. So, having en-us language the ATC messages are not interrupted, but having language in German produces interruption in the normal sequence of them, is this what you mean?
yes it is interrupted.
change then com1 com2.
its only on approach change to tower.
Come from Germany.

He also sometimes speaks Germans Words
It is completely broken.

It is very annoying, especially when you are near or entering approach, because this situation often leads to losing the final instructions for landing. Maybe I better dedicate myself to doing uncontrolled VFR flights for a while
If by “completely broken” you mean that ATC is not working at all, then I have to disagree. ATC does, in fact, work. If it’s not working for you then you need to look to your install. Perhaps you have a file corruption or something. If you can identify which file(s) are a problem you can delete them and let the game reinstall them. Worst case scenario, you may have to reinstall the game. Hope this helps you get ATC back.
If you call that “completely broken”, then what would you call it if it was totally non-functional? How can anything be more broken than “completely broken”? Using exaggerated language like that just confuses the situation with hyperbole.
To me that is “has aspects that are broken”, or simply “bugged” or “heavily bugged”. And the choice of words is important because if my car is “completely broken” I don’t bother fixing it, I just get a new one.
I know what you mean. But the car analogy is quite flawed. I can’t just buy a “new” MSFS 2020 and then the problems are gone. I have to wait until the developers fix the problem.
And these big problems with ATC is IFR flights exists since months now.
And yes, for me, the ATC is completely broken because it is simple unusable in it’s status. Since “world update 4” it is so buggy that you never really know what it is doing and the change that it will fail during a IFR flight is very very high. Especially during approach, it very often fails.
Therefore it’s also a very frustrating experience because you sometimes fly for hours and in the last minutes, ATC fails.
Depends on what you mean by “fail”. It sounds like for you, ATC can only be “completely broken” or perfect. No middle ground. That is an unreasonable expectation for software IMO and you are doomed to disappointment forever.
I did not call your experience nonsense, I called what you said nonsense because you argued with “no middle ground” and “unreasonable expectations”, etc.
You might not know this and that is fine, but many people have reported these issues in the last two months as several threads here in the forum show.
There are a lot of people with these ATC issues.
If you don’t have them, great.
So please stop saying “it’s only happening to you” just because YOU don’t have the issue. How could you know that only I have these issues? Because you don’t have them? That does not make any sense.
Especially since I’m not even the author of the topic.
So let’s call it a day, I’m not going to argue with you any longer. It’s great that you don’t have the ATC issues. Some other people have them. That’s just a fact.
