MSFS still does not provide programmers access to the Multiplayer Planes.
So
No Radar Client (Official Asobo, or 3rd Parry Addon)
No display of Multiplayer planes or their information in addons like “Little Nav Map”
No display of MP information in any addon tools ie. a UI showing Players, Plane Type, Livery name, speed, heading , distance to
No option for Aircraft Labels in Vatsim, or Pilot Edge,
In FSX, many players liked to act as Small Group ATC.
That is not possible, in all but the most basic manner, (ie suing the VFR Map !! )
Maybe what is needed is a Multiplayer SDK to READ MP information …
(writing MP back into the sim should probably not be possible, nobody wants someone injecting 100’s of Drone MP aircraft into everyone’s MP session !@@)
//42 Flow Pro has a portal with info on multiplayer friends where you can see who is online and where, you can set their labels with a different color to easier identification and more.
But not a FULL Radar screen with aircraft tags etc , as was in FSX.
With FSX and its ATC Radar screen players could choose at any time to be a Pilot or a Controller, and this opened up w whole new side of Multiplayer Flight-simming to teh FSX community.
Would be nice to see something like this continued in MSFS.
Flo is GREAT – but is limited to color changes of Existing MP Labels, but no RADAR type screen with enhansed realistic ATC Traffic labels etc
FLO does not add any new Radar Type MP displays, or add ATC specific “Tags” , it just changes existing label colors in normal MSFS views that depict standard MSFS MP labels.
Greatly improved MP labels, but still the same, limited basic information in Outside views, but not on a Radar screen, with ATC specific Aircraft Tags.
I would LOVE to have this back!
All the FSX Multiplayer capability that used to be there for that matter, including a click to talk button for in-sim communication between players in a multi-player session.
And, to me, this is a simulator, I love driving cars and boats, too… If somebody else prefers to just fly, all the power to them. But, all the physics required for any motive simulation is in the sim, might as well use it for those who want to.
But, back to the topic at hand, in FSX I used to love to sit in the tower at, say, Logan airport, and watch the flight traffic from the tower, along with watching it along with the radar.
So, absolutely, I want this functionality back. It sounds perfect for 2024, btw.
The only reason there was a “Tower ATC” in FSX, was because one of the members of the ACE’s team, (Mike Singer) so wanted it, that he programmed it himself and submitted it.
Otherwise, it was never a Planned feature for FSX either.
