I hope we get ATC/Unicom expansion, I’d like to be able to say “on base turning final” or “turning ‘enter direction/pattern position’” or actually being able to have live ATC/Unicom. Practicing with friends in a flight group only goes so far lol. I’d also like the ability to say “crossing runway ___/clear of runway ___” if I’m crossing while taxing to a run up or runway. All in all it would be great to just have more natural Unicom/ATC.
Except for ‘crossing runway’ all of this is possible on an airport without a tower.

The basics are there, I meant it should be expanded, you currently can’t say “on base turning final runway ___” it’s just plain and automated right now, “aircraft so and so on base runway ___” then “aircraft so and so on final…etc” what I mean is I wish it was more natural. Live ATC/Unicom would be the best for this.

I always made a call indicating where I was joining the circuit at uncontrolled airfields.
“Joining straight in downwind left”
“Crossing midfield for downwind left”
I have yet to see an option to call “on downwind”
Don’t remember ever calling “on upwind”, actually, I don’t remember ever BEING on “upwind”.
Edit - How about - “On 3 mile final” or “turning short final”
Edit 2 - Just realized that “On Upwind” is actually “Rolling, Runway XX…” , right?

Yeah just calls and transitions to make it more natural. Although at this rate, it most likely not be expanded due to Vatsim partnership.
And there’s a few guys that fly upwind around here. Normally if they are just working on pattern position calls.
