I experienced this too. I was right over the airport at FL300 when they finally told me to descend.
On that note, I was not sure why but I had entered my own flight plan in the Garmin G3000 (TBM) before contacting Clearance. I had created a flight plan in prep but didn’t like the approach, edited the plan and then contacted Clearance. Of course, I thought it was my own mistake. I am trying another flight now by following these steps: Pick starting point (in a parking space), create (enter) the flight in the plan with final approach then contact Clearance.
I have not experienced this by creating a flight plan during preflight.
