AtlasOS

Hey Guys,

Has anyone tested Atlas OS and the VR performance improvement that can result from it ?

Trying on my side, since 2 hours, that was perfectly smooth without stuters, but I’ve already been disappointed by some tweaks before so I need to fly more to get an idea.

Self-Edit :
Fly 1 EBBR to EGKK CTD at the middle of fly.
After reading official CTD guide, I reactivate game mode desactivated by Atlas OS.
No problem on my second fly, still unbelievably smooth.

Interesting. Not heard of this (Atlas) before. Keep us informed of how it goes! Good luck!

Atlas OS is a tools which contains lot of tweaks to optimize Windows, specifically for gamers.

I discovered it at work, we use Atlas OS on old Laptops, to continue to use the latest versions of Windows smoothly and I was just WOW when I saw that !

You need to know :

  • This is a not a modified ISO of Windows.
  • You need a legit and up to date Windows 10 or 11.
  • You can install Atlas OS or uninstall at anytime.
  • If you need a specific feature disabled by default, you can easily enable it.
  • Project is open source, available on GitHUB, so there is no security risk like modified ISO…

So I decide to try it at home.

After installation, somes tips :

  • Need to re-login to MS-Store to lauch MSFS.
  • Enable Game Mode (to avoid CTD while flying).
  • Using Pro ATC SR for my part, so just enable Microsoft Speech in Privacy menu.
  • Need to pair my Occulus Quest 2 to AirLink.

And that’s all.

For the moment, it’s a game changer and the best tweak I never found, but I need more time to be sure, so stay tuned

Thanks. Yes, I immediately looked at their site to familiarise myself with it.
I’m old enough to remember similar things, like ‘Black Viper’s’ tweaks on Windows XP, but I didn’t know this one.
I look forward to further reports!

Hey,

I flew a lot yesterday, on 4 flights, I still encountered a few stutters on one departure, maybe wifi/airlink relative. All other flights were perfect. Note that I have never achieved such good performance in Geneva, so i’m really happy for that !

Today I made 2 flights on Vatsim. I went down to 12 FPS approaching Gatwick caused by VRAM overflow (maybe caused by some VATSIM model).

I switched on DX11 to solve Vram issue, perfectly smooth on the second fly.

I don’t think Atlas OS solves all the problems, however, I think I even gained quite a few FPS. I hope that one day someone will do benchmarks with Atlas OS and without to see the difference.
