ATR 42/72 Unable to select Ground Idle

Description:

I am unable to switch the engines to Ground Idle.

The issue is consistent and reproducible.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start a flight

  2. Attempt to set engines to Ground Idle

I can confirm this. During the calibration process in the EFB, the aircraft always incorrectly interprets the hardware throttle’s idle position as Flight Idle. As a result, Ground Idle cannot be reached at all, even when the physical throttle lever is pulled fully back.

Seems like the idle gate (below the throttles) is pushed in, it should be pulled out on ground (red line visible). It should do so by itself upon landing, you could try to click it perhaps?

The idle gate is pulled all the way back while having my physical throttle at idle, ATR throttle stays at “Flight Idle”:

Ok, is that all the way back? There should be a red line visibile. But guess that isn’t modelled correctly then as always…

Yes, that’s all the way back.

I’m having the same issue.
I wonder how anyone (dev , testers) could fail to notice something like this.

Same here. I kind of can “cheat” it to the GI position by pulling the throttles into reverse but obviously not the way to do it. I checked out a few streamer videos, their throttles are in FI all the time too (the one’s I watched somehow didn’t recognize this as a mistake). Pretty unbelievable that this was missed in testing… like a few other obvious glitches like the weird shading/mask on the displays, windsceen reflections and other things mentioned elsewhere… It’s a pity because I think the ATR has some potential in that it’s quite different to operate than other airliners. They did some good visual progress and the handflying feels good. But with these bugs, not so fun after all…whatever, I probably give up on this one and focus on other upcoming and promising releases.

so apparently, it’s “just” the visual representation that doesn’t show the thrust lever in the GI position. It actually does go to GI with the idle gate pulled (I didn’t really test myself but read that in one of the forum posts).

i just wanted to point out that the ground idle detent on the throttles is not working on the ATRs. Basically the lowest idle you can go is flight idle. When you activate reverse thrust you then skip over the ground idle range and go into reverse.

Still not working as of July 5th.

Yes, and this will probably be true for July 5th 2027 as well.

Hi. I know this will not be for everyone but i use Spad. I set a button for toggle reverers and a button for increase throttle. I have spad when i push by bravo lite levers all the way down to first engage reversers. Then it pushes throttle increase 10 times to get the levers in sim to ground idle. When i push the bravo levers forward again this activates the toggle reversers and the throttle in the sim resets to flight idle. As i said not pretty but it works.
