I am quite new to the ATR-72 and I am trying to use the flight plans created in the world map menu rather than through simbrief as I am having issues with that. However, the autopilot on the ATR-72 doesn’t seem to follow my GPS FPL (the way the A320, for example, would). I have tried an assortment of engaging the heading mode, nav mode etc. and the only way I can get the autopilot to head in the direction I want it to is to manually input the heading via the heading select mode. Any advice?
Assuming you have no discontinuities or manual sequences in your plan, is your A/P source selector set to FM1?
How are you getting your World Map flight plan into the FMS?
If I create a FP on the World Map and enter the cockpit, the FMS doesn’t have the plan pre-entered.
Are you manually inputting it? Are you using a different method of importing it?
EDIT:
I manually entered a very simple flight plan into the FMS, selected a departure runway and I’m seeing, potentially, what you are seeing – the flight path remains in green, there is a red “X” across the center of the PFD’s navigational display, the first waypoint in the Flight Plan remains in white (isn’t it supposed to be green or another color to indicate the current waypoint?), and the PROG page show nothing.
Even a DTO will not work.
I think there’s something not right here.
EDIT2:
It’s acting as though it has no positional data, yet POS INIT was completed.
