ATR ---- NAV frequency auto tune logic?

Should ATR’s frequency auto-feature actually tune ILS frequency automatically to Active when it comes alive? As it doesn’t… and doesn’t even tune correct frequency to Standby when choosing approach… or should this be done manually in real life too?

Anyone has knowledge about this?

You have to enter it manually, as well as setting the correct course.

Click NAV on the centre console and enter the ILS frequency in the standby box for both channels. Switch over to HDG mode then select V/ILS1 on the MCP and set the course. Switch back to FM1 and then back to NAV mode on the MCP.

Once tuned I typically switch to heading mode after the last leg or if you are vectored to the IAF of FAF. Swap over to the ILS frequency on both channels, switch over to V/ILS1 then press the APP button.

Hope that helps.

Okay. But when frequency and course set, and switched back NAV mode… does it “arm” ILS so that when alive, it then changes it automatically… or does it need to be changed again manually V/ILS1 for capturing the ILS?

No, you have to arm it manually.
