No prop brake works as expected

It’s been working fine for me, except there was one time I turned it on when the plane was off and then the functionality of the switch was reversed. Off was on, and on was off. I fixed it by killing the engine and turning the switch back to off.

I’ve never had a scenario in either the 42 or 72 where it won’t turn off one way or another.

I did

Had to cycle the hydraulic pump and all was good.

I had the same issue as you today. Switch was reversed.

I have this issue. I notice the break is on in flight, but the power lever acts as if it was not. With the status that it prop break is on and I decrease the power lever for that engine the plane reacts as if the prop was not breaked.

Came here for this exact bug. I have this as well. I haven’t tried it on the ATR-42, but on the 72, the prop brake stays on no matter what. Just like OP, the prop brake switch does indicate off, but the light “PROP BRK” is illuminated. I tried turning off all the hydraulic pumps as @DefeatedThree7 mentioned but that did not work for me.
However, as others have mentioned, its just a visual bug since the prop brake doesn’t actually stop the performance of the engine (nor does it when it is working properly).

Problem with the prop brake on/off switch. In pilot view, I can flip the Prop brake guard open, but the prop brake on/off switch is not functioning. I have to go to the instrument 02 view to be able to operate the prop brake on/off switch. Is there a way to change this, so it is operable in the pilot view?

kind regards

Alex

Pilots please vote to get that issue resolved

This happens to me on every flight. Here’s what I do:

  1. Turn off prop brake switch. PROP BRK light goes off then comes back on.
  2. With the switch still in the OFF position I turn off all three hydraulic systems
  3. PROP BRK light goes off
  4. Turn on all three hydraulic systems.

Prop brake light stays off and propeller animation shows spinning propeller.

Ok but is this normal procedure in real life ? Tx

In Real life, you should never have a reversed Prop brake control. And if you had, you probably wouldn’t be allowed to be dispatched with that failure present.

Same here at startup with the ATR 72 600

Thank you so much for figuring that out. I have not flown this plane in several weeks and you saved me from rage quitting at EGLC. Thankfully, because of you, my flight from EGLC to LOWI is on schedule once again.

saved my night buddy thanks
