Brief description of the issue:

When closing slowly to TOD-marker in ND, VNAV path indicator (magenta square) appears only like 0,3 miles before TOD… and when it appears, it’s already like halfway between upper edge and middle, then it drops fast below the middle section… and hitting VNAV at that point as fast as you can, it still needs to make quite ditch to nose to reach VNAV path.
So it’s impossible to setup VNAV descend in timely manner fast enough, so that when magenta box would appear in the upper edge, at that point I would set correct altitude and wait for magenta box to slowly come down towards the middle for VNAV to be pressed.

Four screenshots at 10nm, 5nm, 2,5nm… and finally when magenta box appeared, so close that cannot give approx distance anymore.

Happens the same to me. The obvious solution is to engage VNAV when I’m close to the TOD, let’s say within 10 nm from TOD.
