Audio Stutters In Menu / Globe And On Ground / During Flight

I also make sure the following are disabled:

  • Hyper-V
  • Virtual Machine Platform
  • Windows Hypervisor Platform

You access these settings here:

‘Control Panel’ (Category view) → ‘System and Security’ → ‘Programs’ (from the list on the left) → ‘Turn Windows Features On or Off’

They should all be OFF by default when Virtualization is disabled in BIOS. But I have seen otherwise. Windows is funny that way sometimes…

@FlyngWithJay i have the same thing happening. You explained it well. Even the loss of focus at random time. I have to click back to my main monitor to get my frames back to normal.

Yeah, like I said, perfectly smooth without stutters. 300 tlod, 200 olod, no framegen, no dynamic lod, at 4k, 60 fps, all major US airports and Heathrow. Very good performance. Of course this is on MY system.

which system and which plane?

Those who have reported “smooth as butter” are you using Photogrammetry? I’ve noticed this occur when I turn photogrammetry on.

Day before yesterday flew into KSEA with a clean cache as I had just deleted it prior and reset it to 160GB. As I approached the airport, the stutters and popping came in. Yesterday, I turned off photogrammetry, took off from KSEA into KDEN and it was completely smooth.

In the past I’ve seen that flying into NYC for example demonstrated the same issue.

I fixed it on my machine as follows: Step 1: RC disabled. Step 2: Tool for FPS whose name I cannot mention here. Step 3: In-game settings set to Ultra and only the texture resolution from Ultra changed to High. My PC: 7800X3D 4080 64 GB RAM With that, the sim runs very well and visually it’s also a dream. Tested in Heathrow Inibuilds Fenix. Maybe it helps you guys.

Yes I always have PG on. Give the glass cockpit refresh setting change that I described above a try. 2 minutes of your time. So far so good for me. But I will post back if that changes.

One thing is certain: the sim is as buggy as a minefield. If you fly vanilla and look at the scenery with a standard plane, everything is fine. If you start with complex add-ons, things get exciting. Let’s see what the next updates bring.

@rick12251 what the hell is glass screen setting?

Yeah sorry. Wasn’t in the game when I typed it. Glass cockpit Refresh Rate.

  • Virtual Machine Platform

  • Windows Hypervisor Platform

These are both disabled already, I do not see Hyper-V in the menu though.

What cities have you tried?

Sorry, I have the ASUS X670E-E ROG Strix Gaming WiFi

I do a lot of flights out of LAX, KEWR, KJFK, KMIA. Back and forth across country. When I get those stutters it’s almost always around heavy areas. I did some research on the coherrentgtuithread and from what i could find it runs the glass cockpit screens. And that thread spikes to make the mainthread/renderthread spikes and then stutters. Who knows. I usually only get the issue once a week or so. I fly maybe 20-30 hrs a week, usually late at night on the east coast. And I would always do a reset of my graphics settings and restart the sim, which would solve it everytime. So I started doing 3-4 settings at a time over a 2-3 week period and narrowed it down to the glass cockpit setting.

I was going nuts reloading everything, set Logitech mouse to poll at 250 instead of 1000 and it cleared up completely. Watch your polling rates.

Whats RC disabled?

Rolling Cache.

I also don’t have any audio stuttering, although today I did get a bit scared because I experienced some sound crackling and popping while listening to music through my headphones connected to the Sound Blaster X5. Luckily, it turned out to be just the Sound Blaster driver issue - after uninstalling it with DDU and reinstalling, the issue was gone. But that’s not what this topic is about.

So, no audio stuttering for me in MSFS either. I’ve always played with photogrammetry enabled and have flown over London, NYC, LA, San Francisco, among others.

My specs: MSI X879E Carbon WIFI, Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 6000 CL26.

What worries me is that this thread isn’t tagged as bug-logged :frowning:

Our systems are pretty similar. Yet I see a lot of stuttering around PG areas. Makes me wonder what isn’t common that I could experiment with.

@rick12251

That’s the same for me. It’s always around NYC and LAX photogrammetry that I get those stutters and audio popping.

@FlyngWithJay i have the same MOBO as you.

Same. This is exactly what is happening to me.

I always have photogrammetry on, both in VR and the rare occasion I fly in 2D mode. Always smooth with no stutters.
