Flight S6.T1.F3 Details
This is the final of three fictitious flights, each contributing to the Berlin Airlift during the period June 1948 to September 1949.
In this flight we will return to Tempelhof via the Southern Corridor, departing from Wiesbaden in Western Germany.
Along the way, we will be loading medical supplies at one other airfield in the West (Bad Hersfield) and unloading supplies at two airfields in the East (Obermehler and Zerbst) as well as at Tempelhof itself:
The boxed-airfield, EDCO (Obermehler), is for our LFS coffee-break; LFS/2 = LFS for 2 min; leg times given for zero-wind conditions
Departure: ETOU (Wiesbaden, West Germany).
Destination: EDDI (Tempelhof, West Berlin).
LFS/2: EDEN (Bad Hersfeld) and EDUZ (Zerbst) are both for short (2 min) full-stops to load/unload medical supplies.
Coffee-Break: EDCO (Obermehler) ~15 mins. Also to unload medical supplies.
Cruise Altitude: 3000 ft (QNH).
Weather: ‘Live Weather’ if possible; TBA on the day.
Flight Duration: ~102 min, plus ~15 min coffee break at EDCO (Obermehler).
Flight Distance: 240 nm.
Navigation: By Dead Reckoning with reference to a (LNM) map, DI/compass, watch/clock and ground features.
Aircraft: ‘Classic’ version of the Douglas DC-3 (C-47), or any other period SEP/MEP aircraft capable of maintaining the required cruise speed of ~160 knt/184 mph/296 kph. This implies that the performance factor, p ≈ 0.4 min/nm, is constant for all aircraft in the flight. For the Classic DC-3, this also implies the following parameter settings:
Manifold Pressure = 33”Hg; Propeller speed = 2100 rpm; Mixture = Auto Lean
Fuel Load ≈ 240 gal US (sufficient for the flight with 30 min duration as reserve)
Timing, etc
Departure time at your locale: 19:00 Z on Wednesday 22nd July 2026.
Departure time in the simulation: 12:00 J at ETOU (Wiesbaden).
Multiplayer: All Players.
Server: South East Asia.
MSFS Vn: Fliers are welcomed in both MSFS 2020 & 2024. David (@medps / Cheerfulllama38) will be in MSFS 2020.
All the best! David
