Auto Pilot broke again, Death spirals back! 3 in a row Airbus no mods, having crashes too

Autopilot broke again, it would be nice if they came out with a patch that didn’t break something. I guess that’s asking too much!

Autopilot isn’t broke. This update went very well

There are certain conditions where the AP will dive even though a Vertical Mode is enabled, with a positive ascent rate dialed in and a target altitude. These can happen if you’re operating at flap arc airspeed ranges and are also requiring a large turn rate (i.e., NAV mode is requiring a heading change > 90 degrees).

The AP has on occasion dipped the nose below the horizon and not recovered after waiting a few moments. Still happened as late as last night after SU3. Full realism, no Assists. This has been occasionally happened since before USA Update.

I only fly Single Engine GA. It’s happened mostly on the Caravan, but also on the 172 G1000 and SR-22.

Don’t get slow and make the AP turn hard in that condition. Slow speed exacerbated by additional nose up that’s eating away at what’s left of your airspeed.

Is this what the OP is reporting?

This happened in my airbus 3 times in a row last night halfway through the flight. Auto thrusters on.

I haven’t had this problem happen. Do you have the latest version of any mods installed?

A320NX? The mod? Make sure you have the latest dev version of the mod.

I was using flybywire but it doesn’t work with this patch so I went back to stock version

I’ve experienced this issue twice now since the update. I installed the update on Tuesday and restarted the sim. In the meantime, I deleted my A32NX FBW mod dev. version and reinstalled it before launching the sim again. I tried a flight from KMCO-KLAS and after takeoff when I went to engage the AP, the aircraft banked hard right. It eventually flew level again, but it just kept flying straight off course and never corrected itself.

I decided to delete the mod and give it a day or two to get fixed. So, I try the same exact flight again this morning and reinstall the latest dev. version of the mod. I had heard that some of the issues after the update had gotten fixed so I had my hopes up. Long story short, the same exact issue happened again today and I’ve gotten no response or help about it. I also ccked all my deadzones and they are all still set to 15% like they’ve always been. This is so frustrating, because before the update, the FBW mod was working flawlessly.

The flybywire mod DOES work with this patch. Please don’t spread false information.

Since others are using the FBW mod without issue, I would suggest you have another mod or a conflict between mods that is behind your problem.

This is a known issue. Increase the null zone for your x and y axis on your joystick. Solved.

You mean “dead zones?” If so, mine are set at 15% for all axes.

My comments are strictly for GA aircraft, esp. single-engine piston.

@Kingofclubs4680 - please edit your Title so people know you’re talking about A32x and Mod use. Thanks.

Haven’t put in too much time since the update but with the 787-XE mod I haven’t experienced any autopilot issues so far.

I just cleared my community folder and did a flight to Paris with the stock Airbus. On my final approach at 203 mph it did it again. Death spiral.

I suspect a lot of the AP issues have been cause by having the AI Pilot turned on.

Land, turn on AI Pilot to taxi to gate, and next flight / even next day, if you do not remember to turn him off, on Takeoff, you will think the AP is causing you to crash when you turn it on .. but it’s really the AI Pilot, having a bad day . (and in fact, the AP does not even actually turn on a all ) – (at least for the smaller GA planes.)

Its always been off

When does it occur, when you engage approach mode or something else? Or does it just happen when you haven’t touched anything and have been cruising along fine?
