Hi I used to be able to turn on Auto rudder in FSX as I have no pedals. The yoke would then control the rudder on the ground for taxi purposes, this does not seem to work in the new sim, can anyone help
Hello and welcome!
Yes it’s implemented in FS, check Assistance section where under Piloting is this feature.
I enabled this under piloting but it doesnt work. I still have to use keys to make the rudder turn, if I do that then I can turn the plane fine. If I dont it tends to hit things or run off into the grass
I’m not at my FS computer right now, but strictly speaking, auto-rudder is not the same as auto-steering (nose wheel). If you look at the plane from the outside, you’ll be able to tell if the rudder moves when you the move the ailerons (roll axis). If it does, auto rudder works, and you have to look elsewhere for auto-steering, hopefully not in vain. Remember that you can assign the same buttons and axes to multiple functions.

Autorudder will give you a coordinated turn in flight without having to use the rudder. That’s the extent of what it does.
For ground steering, I have my rudder assigned to an axis on on one my controllers. Also, realize that in some cases, differential braking is needed for tighter ground turns. For that, I’ve got left and right toe brakes assigned to controller buttons. Use an axis for rudder and buttons for each toe brake and you should be good. I don’t have pedals either.
With Auto rudder I can also steer on ground with my yoke’s ailerons, as is defined if you don’t have rudder pedals, this is functionality.
