Description of the issue:
When I file a flight plan using the EFB I send to ATC and then send to avionics. When I turn on the autopilot it doesn’t follow the flight plan. I tried pressing autopilot, nothing happened, then tried pressing LNAV and nothing happened. Tried VNAV and nothing happened and then tried both LNAV and VNAV and nothing happened. It doesn’t follow the flight plan at all.
If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:
All aircraft including the Airbus A321, A320NEO, A330-200, -300, Boeing 737-8MAX, Boeing 747-400, Boeing 747-8, and Boeing 787-10, etc.
Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
How often does this occur for you? (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)
It happens everytime
REPRODUCTION STEPS
Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue.
File flight plan on EFB
Send to ATC and avionics
Turn on autopilot after takeoff

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes, the LNAV and VNAV are armed and green lit, but the aircraft doesn’t follow either LNAV or VNAV navigation with autopilot engaged.

I inputted everything like I did in the PMDG 737 for MSFS 2020, and it should have worked, but with LNAV, VNAV and the autopilot engaged, the 737 MAX veers off course, or doesn’t climb to it’s assigned altitude.
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes I experienced the same in a Cessna when engaging NAV and AP.

If you create the flight plan in EFB and send to ATC and send to avionics, the autopilot does not follow the flight plan at all. This happens on most aircraft unless they have fixed it now.
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes, but also if I create a flight plan using the plane’s FMS (not the EFB).
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• MSFS2024 has been quite seamless for me, from installation to initial flights, except for a glitchy autopilot feature in all aircraft (2020 & 2024 models). The most frequent issue is the inability to activate the autopilot. Occasionally, even when activated, the aircraft fails to acknowledge it, not adhering to the magenta line, or unable to engage NAV or LNAV. Additionally, when both NAV and HDG are active, it fails to intercept and continues beyond the flight path. Typically, I wait until the aircraft is stable and in level cruise mode before attempting to use the autopilot.
This must be one of those issues that you either have or you don’t. GPS/FMS/Autopilot in general have generally not been an issue for me whatsoever. Now, I’m playing exclusively career mode, so I can’t say anything for free flight.
C172, Vision Jet, Caravn 208B have all worked nearly flawlessly for me. The flight plan doesn’t always sync with the ATC mission parameters so that has caused it’s own issues as far as career mode.
I recently started learning how to fly airliners with the default 737 Max. Learning curve aside, sending flight plan to avionics works mostly. I’m not sure what the panel is called, but the small panel to set v speeds, weights, and other parameters, including flight plan seem to work well. I’m 2 flights in with the 737 and both times “send to avionics” puts everything in and I’m generally left with just one missing vector to a waypoint. It’s been the first waypoint so far, so on takeoff it can seem like AP doesn’t know what it’s doing, but quickly adding that vector fixed the problem. All the way to cruise, decent and VOR/Approach mode and autolanding work fine.
If anybody has widespread issues with AP then my heart goes out to you. IMO this game would be completely unplayable without those settings. I really enjoy the H125 but I either can’t figure out autopilot or it doesn’t have it at all and there’s no trim either so I’ve just avoided helicopters.
I read a tip an Xbox user posted elsewhere on this site…
I am on PC via Steam…FIRST create a flight plan using the online Microsoft site below (which is pretty nice BTW), saving that plan using the site Save button and THEN switch back to MSFS2024 and load that plan into your EFB (MSFS will find your saved FPLs created using the site) which just worked for me. I just tried it and it is the first time I have been able to get an actual non-Direct flight plan into any of my planes FMS and autopilot.
