Aviat Husky

I was excited to hear Asobo is planning a Husky release, perhaps this August. They hinted it will bring something important to the sim-what does everyone think it will be? Floats, skis, Tundra tires…? I realize these things are already here through third party modders but it’s interesting to speculate what will be coming to the stock sim.

Definitely… at least to me, they will bring floats and improved water physics and water effects for all float planes / flying boats. Aerosoft is also about to release their twin otter at the end of summer vacations (northern hemisphere) and given that they are working really closely with Asobo and their Otter has a float variant, I think we can expect water physics and effects!!

I am excited about Husky. Will it be a glass cockpit or mostly steam with some glass (engine monitor and small gps)?

Agreed. I’d be good with old instruments and maybe a 430. Either way, looking forward to it.

MSFS has just released the Husky A-1C

Got it. Let’s see how it is.

Would be interested to know if the amphibian version can actually be steered during taxi.

The 172 steers, why would this one not?

Not in my experience, and that of many others. Same with the amphibian X-Cub.

I bought it in the marketplace. Now it crashes on download of the aircraft. Any help is appreciated.

Can anyone post a pic of the cockpit/interior? The commercial from Asobo completely ignored it.

I will in a few minutes if no one gets to it before I do

I imagine because people kept going off topic on general sim related issues and yours has been mistaken for a similar deviation. Are you fully crashing to desktop or just freezing?

Full CTD. It seems to get 10 MB each time or so and then it completely crashes the sim to the desktop. Trying it again now. It said it fetched 37MB already.

Yeah for some reason downloads have issues. I have a feeling it happens when liveries are involved and this one has 10. For me it freezes instead of CTDs. Usually, what I do is restarting the sim and resuming the download. Suboptimal but it works.

If the starting times were not so long… I seem to be downloading bit by bit more after each crash ^^

EDIT: yep after each package the sim ctd’s. Wonder if anyone else gets in one go.

It helps to rename your community folder temporarily to something else. It’ll speed up your startup of the sim considerably. Then after you’re done, re-rename it to Community.

Hehe, yeah did that. 173MB left. What an ordeal. But I am a certified Husky fan so gotta do it.

EDIT: Taking the focus of the MSFS Client (tabbing away) seems to have helped my issue. For what it is worth it may help you too.

not needed to play from the couch, that’s strictly where this is advertised at.

I really like it… One small caveat, the GPS gets titled sideways on popout. Otherwise great.

There’s a picture in the marketplace:

Hmm … nothing against the Husky. Lovely little plane.
With the XCub and the Savage Cub I nevertheless had the impression we had this kind of aircraft covered pretty well already. Especially the XCub is so close in specs and looks that I really wished MS/Asobo would have selected something using a little more imagination. Especially considering the C-version also doesn’t have a steam gauge cockpit.
So it’s a pass for me.
