I fly MSFS strictly in VR and I LOVE IT!!! That said I propose a mouse control scheme that will make operating the avionics controls in VR both easier AND much more immersive. What I propose is that when you highlight a control and left click it, the sim captures the mouse so moving the mouse now means nothing. Once captured the mouse wheel now acts like a knob allowing you to go up or down in radio frequency, barometric pressure, Garmin panel knobs, etc. Once the desired value is reached you than right click to un-capture the mouse and the mouse returns to normal mode. If a know has an inner and outer ring, once you left click on it, a submenu opens up and you use the mouse wheel to select which function you want and left click to select. A single right click will return you to the original sub menu allowing you to mouse wheel to the other option. Two right clicks of the mouse would return you to free mouse mode. I have a knobster and I LOVE it but having to scroll through all the menus and selecting the specific control I want to change is immersion breaking. Physically using the mouse to select a specific avionics system and using the mouse wheel to control it would be a massive leap forward in VR immersion. Heck, in 2D it would be awesome for people who don’t have cockpits. I know you can control the avionics with the mouse now but you have to have the pointer perfectly over the system you are trying to control, a simple left click mouse capture system would make operating the avionics much easier. You could even do that with switches, click, capture, mouse wheel for switch on or off, right click, back to free mouse mode.
Thank you for listening
