Avoid Runways!

There could definitely be two options within MP mode for msfs 2024 to be explored…

Arcade/Fuge around mode
Basically as the title suggests… For those who only play msfs for ships and giggles, give two flying v’s for procedures and just want to fly around with mates and have a good laugh and buzz the tower…
Start on runway and ready to go…

Realistic mode… For those who don’t/can’t (anxiety/public speaking) /not quite vatsim ready and want to be realistic as possible… And only start option is the gate

I mean…

That last one will still have the odd comedian or two dozen that will still buzz the tower and fly infront of your cockpit while your flying and all but…
It would be a ton better knowing they started at the gate and actually had to turn the engine on to start with :rofl::rofl:

You’re being too serious imo. It’s not real life. If someone is sitting there, just land in front of them. Chances are they won’t be taking up 5000 feet of runway

I would think turning off MP would be better for really serious players as others mentioned above. I love MP, but I’m not that serious and don’t care if I see planes flying under bridges or landing on the White House lawn.

lol! I don’t try to purposely annoy people, but I have totally sat at the end of the runway fiddling with things. A while back I noticed ATC telling a plane to go around… and around… 3x. I looked, it wasn’t a player so I waited to see what would happen, but on the 4th time it landed anyway. Safely, no collision, no stress. Got told it wasn’t cleared to land. It didn’t seem to care.

Also when ATC tells me to go around, I have had to occasionally land. Wife saying dinner is on is much more important than realism in a sim!

No! It’s absolutely NOT fun at bigger airports. Flight simulator, not Taxi simulator

So if they wish to spawn in on the runway, they can; after all, they’re playing it the way they like.

Yes, I find it annoying to be honest, but I am not going to shed tears over it.

Unfortunately live weather isnt always the same for everyone, often its shown wind blowing in different directions to different players, also some folk are playing in private groups, these players show to everyone flying in the “all” players lobby, if you wish not to see others sittint on the runway (they could be there for any number of good reasons) then either fly offline or in a private group so you dont see the rest of the world doing what they want to do

My vote would be to start planes at the hold short line. But I can see how casual players would be better off lined up on the runway so here’s a better suggestion. When spawning on the runway, you are invisible until you take off. It doesn’t solve the problem of players having different weather so their takeoff direction might be opposite.

It’s fun to fly patterns and see other players also flying the same pattern. But more often, there is are military jets buzzing around where they don’t belong. So my MP expectations are fairly low.

Just allow players to selectively hide other players, where their respective play-styles don’t align.

It wouldn’t restrain anyone from playing exactly as they wish.

I mean… maybe. But I used to regularly see military jets not following normal regulations as I know them. They used to do bombing runs on a hydro dam and I’m as certain as I can be they were only a few hundred feet off the river. I would assume they don’t have the same rules as civilian aircraft, but maybe I’m wrong.

I think we just discovered Harrison Ford’s forum account.

My main objection is the F-18s, F-14s, F22s flying at 500’ over Los Angeles. You have to admit that this breaks the immersion a bit. But live and let live. I know what I’m getting into by enabling MP, so I just ignore it. I am guilty of starting on the runway and sitting for far too long zooming into things instead of getting on with the plan. :grinning:

For all intended purposes this is just a game. You can probably see everyone from 10 yr olds to 60 and above. Unless this is something that a serious subscription based meant for certain users/community, enforcing all this is pretty much impossible. I don’t think microsoft really cares for the small % of super enthusiasts. There are tons more kids and casual gamers

I think a better way to say it is that they DO care. They care about everyone to the same degree though and super enthusiasts are no more important than anyone else and are likely in the very small minority.

I’ve said it once and after a few flights of seeing absolutely nobody I’ll say it again. If you want realism, join me and one or 2 others on live mode so that we can make that busy with people flying realistically
