Axis Relative Use?

Can we get an explanation of what these are for and how they are different from standard axis controls?

I’m not yet on the Beta, but this likely means that your physical controller(s) does not directly control the absolute position of the aircraft’s axis, but it commands a rate of change instead.

This is for controllers with a self-centering analog axis.

Think about a HOTAS throttle controller with a spring-centered rocker bar on the handle that provides a control axis.

In the rocker bar’s neutral center position, the aircraft’s MIXTURE setting (for example) will not change. Using left/right inputs on the rocker will decrease or increase the aircraft’s MIXTURE lever, and the speed at which the lever moves can be finely controlled because the rocker bar is an axis.

EDIT: I was wrong. These new relative axes require constant change on the physical controller to effect constant change on the simulated gizmo.

If this is the case then it sounds like a total game changer for those of us with physical trim wheels who have to deal with “The Snap” post-autopilot use :thinking:

While I was wrong about how this works, specifically the centering, I guess that this stuff was designed exactly for your kind of use case!

I don’t know for sure because I don’t think I have a proper physical trim wheel. The only “wheel” on any of my controllers has a travel range of only about 90°. I assume your trim wheel can be spun in both directions “forever”?
