B737 - Throttle becomes unresponsive sometimes during landing

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

For the passenger missions with the Boeing 737 Max the throttle becomes unresponsive during some of the landings. After locking on to the localizer and acquiring the glide slope during ILS landings, I switch off the Autothrottle and then this problem starts - the A, B buttons of my controller don’t change the throttle at all. This happens about one out of four landings.

As a workaround I have mapped keyboard buttons numpad 0 to 9 as 0%, 10%, 20%…90% throttle and that works when the controller A,B becomes unresponsive. However this is a very coarse control of 10% steps and it would be great if this unresponsiveness of the throttle buttons is fixed.

This problem happens sometimes on the ground as well while taxiing and I am not sure if it happens during normal flight because I always have AT on.

I use an XBOX type controller, keyboard and mouse only.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Intermittently.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Start a passenger transport mission with the Boeing 737 Max

  2. Perform ILS landing and switch off autothrottle before landing

  3. Try this in multiple landings and the issue should occur

Are you under the beta SU4 ?
Do you see the thrust levers moving (but no thrust is delivered) ?
A similar issue has been reported here: 737-8 MAX No Throttle Response

No I am in the official SU3.

When this happens the thrust levers don’t move visually. They are stuck both visually and in actual effect.

When they can be visually moved with keyboard or mouse they effectively change the throttle every time.

On SU4, I can’t stop the plane after landing. The throttle keeps getting stuck and whatever I do it doesn’t ‘unstuck’ it. Even if I press brakes max it doesn’t go down to zero speed. But gets stuck around 90mph. The game tells me that the throttle is stuck and to press the RB+B button to fix it, but that does nothing. I’ve done both RB+B and RB+A and nothing seems to fix the stuck throttle.

Anyone facing the same issue or know how to fix?

With which aircraft are you experiencing the issue ?
Is that the same than what’s reported here ?:
737-8 MAX No Throttle Response
B737 - Throttle becomes unresponsive sometimes during landing

You may try to map keyboard buttons to throttle percentages and then try hitting 0% to see if that works when the controller is stuck. It has worked for me in the official SU3 release, I am not in the beta.

Here is the screenshot of my setup for reference:

However this would still be a workaround even if it works, the actual issue should be fixed.

I’m on xbox.

Can you take a screenshot of your assists settings?

Perhaps Autothrottle is on? Need more details about plane and landing configuration.

2 useful key bindings:

  • “THROTTLE IDLE” I map to the Xbox controller A+B button so that I can cut throttle to idle.

  • “AUTOTHROTTLE DISCONNECT” is mapped to CTRL and apostrophe by default if you have a keyboard - or you could find a combination that works on controller…

yeah it tells me autothrottle is on and to press these buttons to turn it off and I do that and it still doesn’t stop the plane. I switch it back on and off etc.. but still doesn’t work.

Had no problems with stopping my plane before SU4

What aircraft did you experience this in?

737 Max. The free one from the game.

A330 didn’t have an issue.

Have you checked the topics I have posted here ?, are they the same issue than your ?

I don’t see any post that indicates issue has been fixed in SU4 neither in the live version.

And of course, after I post my reply, I try to test it in the game again so I can attach proof and guess what it’s fixed now!?!? I’m able to stop the 737 now on the runway.
Maybe it’s an intermittent problem?

Only thing I did was change my plane to A330 to make sure it’s not every plane. the A330 landed. then changed back to the 737 and worked now.

I suspect so.
The sim can be a bit finicky at times!

worked for 3 landings in a row but 4th time it had the same problem w/ the throttle getting stuck. Looks like it’s intermittent. Hope they fix it .

I have the same problem, I tested it on iFly 737, FSLabs A320Neo and a few other planes, everything was fine throughout the flight, before landing there was no response from the throttle, I disconnected and connected it, landed and again there was no response, on SU3 there is no such problem

I will also try to land by hand, without ILS, RNAV, without pressing LOC or APROACH, and see if the problem persists. Maybe something with the approaches is not working
