Bad draw distance and LOD, notably bothering in mountainous areas. Will this be fixed?

Hi,

I am suffering from very bad draw distance and level of details compared to FS2020.
It kind of breaks the immersion, notably in areas with mountains.

I have a good internet connection (+500mbs) and some textures are loading properly.

Hardware is Xbox Series X. Anyone experiences better results on PC?

Hope it will be fixed soon.

Same Problem here, also xbox. I remeber we had this issue back in 2020 at first. Then till the End of 2020 the drawing distance and Lod was perfect. Dont know what the did to change it, but i hope itll be same with 2024. Its just a shame that we xbox players have to start from scratch with a game that is ment to run smoother.

On Series X also. Yes the draw distance and level of detail has seriously taken a dump in MSFS24.

I really only fly the small bush planes and GA stuff so I cant blame it on overly agressive dynamic LoD scaling that people are reporting is gappening when using airliners and the F18. Just tried a flight over the edge of London in the VisionJet and everything looked like garbage. The trees appear to have been replaced with large chunks of broccoli, melted buildings, muddy dustant textures and no other noticabke ground features just a few NM out from my position.

In contrast flying over Akaska was passable with mountains etc., at least whilst flying through a valley, but again draw distance dropped off, trees visibly popping in with distant mountains looking like rounded off mole hills with ■■■■■■ jpeg textures.

I really hope this is addressed on Xbox and sooner rather than later. With a focus on the fidelity of terrain etc., being one of the main selling points of the new version, not having features visible until you’re on top of them is a real deal breaker for VFR and bush flying.

It really is an immersion killer when you see terrain popping in below you and just general rough looking textures, overall it does feel like a downgrade over 2020.
I wish the devs would explain some of these issues and if they are working on fixing them,
It feels like Xbox is being ignored, it started in 2020 towards the end with SU15 but not as bad, it’s carried over to 2024 but much worse.

Yep, totally agree! I’m afraid they introduced some sort of dynamic lod, that lowers the lod when you’re on the ground to give you better performance. Even with maxed out settings and tlod of 400, and a good internet connection. It makes hills and mountains look terrible! I hope this will be made optional in the future

What I am seeing on Series X is about the same draw distance as 2020 after SU15, which is what we have now, but far worse graphics rendering in 24. And this is after all the scenery add ons have been removed from streaming! I was so disappointed to see that yesterday, hoping that the removal of any confounding scenery not yet compatible with 24 would have been the cause for poor performance. I am also reading/seeing that PC users with powerful rigs are the most happy users right now. This is not surprising, they have that investment; but 24 was supposed to level up Xbox to PC somewhat due to thin client model and cloud serving. Not yet.

What do you mean by scenery addons removed from streaming?

Just checked my library and I have all the world updates from 2020 being streamed, and that’s all.

Before all the add ons I had purchased, including those that I removed from my Xbox in 2020, appears in my streaming list. Many of those are known to be problematic, which is why I removed them. Now they are gone from my streaming list in 24, so I had hoped that would be something of a fix.

Ah I see so you had duplicate 3rd party scenery addons being streamed.

Im hoping once market place is live having some of the world updates stored locally as well as aircraft will improve things.

Obviously because Im on Xbox Im inclined to say this, but i feel like the Xbox experience needs to be the priority at this point…

As a closed system, xbox cant swap folders, install new drivers, swap graphics cards or upgrade memory, as PC can to some degree to ameliorate issues. But on the other hand, as a closed system, xbox hardware is all the same from one console to the next. Its a known quanity, a variable that developers can control and target and as developers they know what theyre working with as a platform, unlike custom built gaming PCs that are all specced differently.

Im no game developer but surely if xbox was a targeted platform for msfs, then 24 should have been developed to fit that platform first and foremost and give the best experience possible for the hardware and then work from that bedrock up to cater to superior hardware.

The lack of any meaningful xbox specific gameplay reveals or information prior to launch sort of speaks to me that Asobo/MS knew that it was rubbish at this point but made a choice to say nothing.

I can confirm this a well on Xbox x.
LOD and Terrain looks really blurry.
Draw distance also.

Very bad. They promised better graphics on Xbox with msfs2024
