Been frustrated at slow download speed with MSFS.
Well I have just found a cure!
If you have recently done a Windows update, Microsoft has put in a program to regulate packet download called “auto tuning” having spent over a day wondering why my download of MSFS was at most 3Mbts I went internet surfing and found out about auto tuning.
Having disabled it my down load speed went from at best 3Mbts to 20Mbts. Still frustrating ast my Internet speed is testing at 60Mb.
So go on line and search disable Windows 10 auto tuning and increase download speeds
" many users have been reporting slow internet connections after installing the update. Many websites have also pointed out that the problem is caused by “Window Auto-Tuning”, and disabling the feature will improve speed performance. This is absolutely not true.
Microsoft has published a statement noting that disabling Auto-Tuning will definitely limit your internet speeds, and it won’t improve it one bit. The company also says that the feature is consistent throughout all modern operating systems, not just Windows, and you shouldn’t disable it."
It’s only as fast as your slowest link. Where are you located, and where is your regional Microsoft data center. I always get 20mb downloading (but have 200mb service) and I live next to Microsofts data center. That is most likely what they cap it at so they can maintain service levels. Most cloud services will not give you unrestricted speeds as it will kill their bandwidth for others. This is networking 101.
