Banking Visuals

When we bank in VR, both the cockpit appears to bank along with the horizon. Is this correct? I’m thinking the cockpit bank may be overdone.

I’ve never noticed this while in a real airplane.

The cockpit view needs some more work and some more user-configurable options in my opinion.

Seb said SU10 will be bringing some change but whether it relates to this specifically, I doubt.

Usually in a banking airplane I feel more relative to it’s frame of reference. It’s been so long since I’ve been in a 2D flight I’m not sure what it does there. But who knows, perhaps it is accounting for human leaning to gravity?

So now I’m wondering if the horizon angle is relative to the airplane’s bank or the Earth. If that makes any sense.

At some point it must even out or catch up if we roll inverted.

It’s a bit more complicated (as always!)

When banking, your head should follow the frame. However 3 billion years of evolution has hardcoded a “keep the horizon level” feature into us. You might be compensating the turning inadvertently by counter turning your head.

The fast bumps and shakes the airframe experiences should be compensated by not moving the horzon but the airframe to simulate the real world behaviour of our necks. This is not modeled in the sim.
