Beech 18 using old GNS530

I had thought the base GNS530 in MSFS had been upgraded to the enhanced version. However in the Beech 18 it is still using the old, outdated version.

How is this possible, as I thought the base GNS530 had been upgraded in the sim?

Personal Comments and Observations

It’s entirely possible Carenado is still pointing to the old code.

That’s why WT still has the bridge versions for the other Garmin’s they’ve refreshed.

Carenado sources the old code in their projects.

For any Carenado aircraft using the GNS530 or 430, go into the panel.cfg file and change any instances of “AS530” (or AS430) to “WT530” (or WT430) without the quotes. It’s a quick 10 second fix.

I’ve been told that installing the “bridge versions” through the MP may address this, but I’ve personally only had success doing the manual panel edit.

i had read somewhere that this mod can conflict with some dlc planes’ systems and cause issues. any idea if that is still the case?

I did not know that so I cannot answer. I don’t have many dlc planes but it works fine for the Mooney from Carenado I own .

I’ve heard that it negatively impacts (or impacted) the Justflight Fokker F28 autopilot, but not sure if that’s still the case. It may impact anything using non-default Autopilot logic but unsure.

yeah that sounds about right with what i’ve heard about several addons. basically meaning don’t update the gns530 or it’ll mess stuff up. which is unfortune because then you have developers like carenado which could update the gns to the new version, but don’t for some reason and leave it up to us to figure out

I have been on, what feels like, a one-person crusade to get this solved once and for all.

However, I believe I have failed, because here we are still discussing it.

Now that the plane is in 2024 and we can’t do some of these tricks anymore. Can you look into making a bug report for Carenado to fix the situation so we can use the WT GNS530?
