Anyone else counting down the days this week? I saw a passing reference to it up thread, but JustFlight have posted a draft copy of the manual on their site - 190 pages of light reading to help pass the time.
Yes, I can’t wait. I’m also deep in the manual now…
Two more sleeps until Starship!
I’ve been planning my first few flights in my head (while at work) what airports I’ll fly to and from. Maybe hit the Bahamas.
This plane just screams, “Luxury travel for the 1%’er wannabe,” which would be me, lol. So it’s going to be Caribbean, Hawaiian and Mediterranean vacation flights; getaways to Vale, Jackson Hole and European Alpine airports; etc.
I’m definitely gonna try a world tour or maybe a most northerly airport I can find to the most southern. She’s gonna get some flight time
Really fighting myself on this one. I absolutely love the effort, system depth and attention to detail on the Starship, but on the other hand I really dislike the whole look of the aircraft and the messy looking cockpit. Of course that’s all on Beechcraft and me, not at all on Black Square. They faithfully recreated an aircraft I don’t really like.
I learned to love the Duke but this one will be hard, because unlike the Duke I really don’t click with this cockpit. Way too many colors and tiny texts on way too many sceens. It looks like exploded christmas decoration. Cluttered and convoluted. Again, not Black Square’s fault. That’s how the Beechcraft Starship is.
Anyway … I might still get this down the line and I wish Black Square a lot of success with the Starship.
Same here; Ik really dig the looks of the airframe but the cockpit…
I’m considering getting the Piaggio P.180 Avanti II instead…
Pfft. It’s a perfect encapsulation of the era. It only needs a pink flamingo bobble on the dash and a cassette tape of music from Miami Vice playing in the background.
I’m glad I’m not the only one. I’m sure I will buy it in the end but the 80’s kitsch is more than a little off putting. And I’m from the 80’s. It took us so long to move away from this look and now you want me to sit in it again?
But yes, I’m sure I’ll still buy it.
The sheer system depth is daunting. I know that’s the whole point. At the same time, having to regulate the cooling for the avionics seems excessive in a simulator, for example.
Before I get run out of town by the forum mob, I’m so glad it exists, but I’m scared of it.
Personally I disagree. Regulating the temps is something I enjoy in the Dukes/TBM. Allows me to work on my manly multi-tasking skills!
I think it’s entirely relevant that this element is included in the game/sim………unlike shouting out “Clear Prop” in GA, which isn’t something I would ever do (but extremely common watching YouTube videos).
Panels definitely have a Dodge Aries vibe…
Gosh darn it, I thought I was all done wanting to buy more GA after I grabbed the P.180, but now I’m not only buying this day one but I’m probably going to end up with at least the piston Duke as well (I blame YouTube recommending I watch all the Dukes videos after I was done with the Starship ones). I absolutely love the retro yet advanced cockpit of the starship (it really hurts to think about this being retro now, that floppy drive is pure nostalgia).
Normally I just skip past these posts, but I have to say that the cockpit in the Starship has to be the most interesting one in flight simulator this far, and the system depths seems like the best ever for GA.
If it`s not for you, I totally understand.
For me, it`s the general model. It really seems quite ugly, but the cockpit and systems makes up for that in spades.
Yeah, I definitely will watch all the videos that they put out. There is a big chance it will become an acquired taste, because I love deep simulations of as many systems as possible. Doing things the wrong way should have the real consequences. The Starship seems to have that in spades.
I can`t wait to see the screens go black for a lot of people because of overheating.
