Beechcraft D17 Staggerwing Fuel Selectors

Hi all,

has anyone managed to workout the 2 fuel selector switches on the Staggerwing yet?
I am slightly confused. I hope someone can shed some light on this for me please.

There are 5 fuel tanks to choose from on the aircraft:

Upper Wing Left (labeled L.U.)
Upper Wing Right (labeled R.U.)
Center (Labeled Main)
Lower Wing Left (labeled L.L.)
Lower Wing Right (labeled L.R. — for consistency, this ought to read R.L.)

The upper valve:
• Shuts off ALL flow to the engine when set to OFF regardless of the lower valve position
• Flows fuel to the engine from the center tank when set to Main
• Flows fuel to the engine from the Upper Left Wing tank when set to L.U.
• Flows fuel to the engine from whichever tank the lower valve is set to when set to Lower Valve

The lower valve:
• Shuts off ALL flow to the upper valve when set to OFF
• Flows fuel to the upper valve from Upper Wing Right when set to R.U.
• Flows fuel to the upper valve from Lower Wing Left when set to L.L.
• Flows fuel to the upper valve from Lower Wing Right when set to L.R.
