Update;

Assigning the ‘Set helicopter throttle axis’ to the other helicopter (Guimbal Cabri G2) works.

The B407 that Asobo has provided doesn’t appear to have a variable throttle for the turbine, its either on or off. Yes the 407 has a FADEC but the throttle will still allow you to slow the rotor to about 60-70% NR at IDLE.

It’s a problem with the throttle mapping. You should be able to assign throttle Axis to the Bell, as with the Cabri but you can’t.

My work around was to use the mouse to put it in idle during startup, and then manual adjust to 100% post start up.

Brief description of the issue:

When setting up helicopter controls, the collective axis controls the throttle, and the throttle axis controls the collective. So I had to set my joystick collective to the ‘helicopter throttle axis’, and my joystick throttle to the ‘helicopter collective axis’.

Try setting your joystick collective to the Helicopter Collective Axis, and see how it controls the throttle instead.

This is not the case for me, throttle assignment controls the throttle and collective assignment controls the collective as expected

I have custom profile set up for controls. I am using a thrustmaster TWCS throttle. It is configured as throttle, but it controls the collective. If i configure the collective, it ALSO controls the collective. I am unable to control the throttle with any configuration.

yes, I noticed that too, and that may be what the OP’s problem is


I opened a bug about this, in the meantime I created two profiles for my controls, one for planes (throttle assigned to throttle), one for helicopters (throttle assigned to collective), it is a bit annoying to switch profiles before flying, but it works for me

So I restarted the game and now, the Collective axis controls the collective as expected and the helicopter throttle controls the throttle as expected. Planes work as well, no need for 2 profiles.

  • The Cabri G2 works as expected.

  • The Bell has no throttle response at all. Helicopter throttle Axis does nothing to the Bell’s Throttle, nor does the default throttle axis. Only way to control the Bell Helicopter throttle is with the mouse in cockpit. No conflicting inputs either.

Heh, I was using the bell, which is why i guess the throttle wasnt working
 but “throttle axis” is still controlling my collective.

I assigned a speed brake to the rotating shaft on the X56 throttle side.
That was assigned to the helicopter throttle, and the throttle was assigned to the collective.

Not only axis is not working but also you can get 100% power while staying in the idle position. This means the engine can be started without even touching gas handle at all. It should be increased to the fly position during startup.

No throttle responce , only in this challenge 40th Anniversary Activities " Mendenhall Glacier Tour ". In main Sim the Bell 407 works fine with both throttle and joystick controls (T.Flight Hotas One) . When starting challenge Bell 407 is runing and instructions given & ATC. Ready for taxi no In/out put from joystick or throttle. When on Grand Canyon tour all works fine. Complete shut down of XBox S and then start . Same problem. Hotas one in correct position working correctly in control options .

Has anybody heard if Asobo has acknowledged this problem and are working on a fix? I’m just finishing my collective build and hoping this is fixed soon. I noticed there was a beta update today but it doesn’t look like this fix was in that release.

-Remember to assign the HELICOPTER THROTTLE AXIS to your desired controller axis instead of the THROTTLE AXIS (made for planes) when flying helicopters

-Remember to assign the COLLECTIVE AXIS to your desired controller axis to control the collective of the plane independently from your throttle axis

-Remember to switch OFF the GOVERNOR in your helicopter (either by flicking the switch on the Cabri or by twisting and unlocking the throttle mode on the Bell)
