Best AMD GPU Settings for MSFS VR?

I run a Quest 2 with a 7800XT and an i5-12400F. When researching the best settings to use everything is NVIDIA. I would love to know if anyone has similar configs or advice for maximizing settings. Thank you so much!

I just now saw this thread, but let me know if you still need some tips. I have a Quest 3 running off a 7800xt, and can pull my settings when I get a free moment.

I also would love to see some recommended settings for AMD GPUs.

Please do! I need perfect settings :money_mouth_face:

Sorry it took so long, but busy family life and all that. :stuck_out_tongue: I run VR through Virtual Desktop on our normal WIFI 6 network for the Quest 3. It’s often suggested to have a dedicated network, but you should be fine with a strong modern WIFI system. My computer is connected via ethernet to the router. My settings in the streaming tab of Virtual Desktop app on the headset itself are:

Ultra graphics setting
120 FPS framerate
120Mbps bitrate
78% Sharpening (this is subjective)
SSW Disabled
Disable “Increase color vibrance” (it’s on by default and I didn’t like it)

There’s some other settings for streaming, but I’m pretty sure I left them at the default and thus no need to list here. Here’s the rest of my settings screenshot from my computer. My GPU has a custom OC on it, which definitely helps things. YMMV of course, but I’m including those settings as well in case you are curious. It’s and XFX Black 7800XT, which already has a factory OC. I’m also running a 5800X3D and 32 GB of RAM.

I also use frame generation in VR with no noticeable artifact issues.

The end result of this keeps me right at 120FPS (60 per eye as reported in Virtual Desktop’s headset overlay). The only visual issue is a minor softening of cockpit text and moiré on some corrugated textures (i.e. the sides of a distant building). Text is still generally sharp enough to be readable. If I set the sim to TAA instead of FSR2 Quality, the text is nice and crisp, the moiré is gone, but the frame rates drop to 90-96 FPS (45-48 per eye). That can result in very minor head tracking issues and flickering on the edges of your view starts to become noticeable if quickly looking around. So try both settings and see which you prefer.

I don’t do a ton of VR flying, so these settings may not be optimal for me yet. Even if it isn’t, I’m happy with them so far and gives you a good starting point to fine tune your system from.
