I want to ask for advice.
I have time to create a new config set since a very long time and I am looking for the best vr experience.
I don’t really know how fs has evolved since vr release but i hope to reach excellent daily/nightly long game session on 1440p/2160p (oculus quest 2 or better later).
I have read some topics already but i think there are a little bit outdated because its are old.
Which config should i go for that please?
I have already an itx case with me (nothing else). For personal reasons i do not want to change my case.
I have actually in mind:
amd 5800X3D (or 5800x if it’s better, or intel equivalent? or better to wait for 7800X ?)
32 GB DDR4 4800MHZ (i don’t know if 64GB worth the experience ?)
6800XT (or better to wait a few months for 7800xt radeon?)
I have until 31 december to do my new config. So i have all the time, i just want to get an excellent vr gaming experience on fs. I am ready to wait for that
Thanks for your purpose.
Hum, i should also admit that power consumption is really important for me, so my config should stay under 750w psu at full load (yeah i know, power is expensive, not ecological …etc)
I am not really familiar with the ITX form factor, but a quick search suggests to me ITX cases are smaller than ATX…. Given that consideration and you want to limit your PSU to 750 max I would start with with those two aspects.
What graphics cards will actually fit in the case.
How much additional power they may require to run.
A high end system is also likely to run hotter and need good air-flow through the case to keep temperatures down.
I didn’t correctly understand what you mean about, but i suppose i can go with up to 550w for gpu.
You’re right, but it most depend on space optimisation, or air flow or vaccum hot chamber. (17L is good for airflow and 12L for watercooling)
For my personal opinion about itx
I mount computer since really long time (my first were mounted 24 years i think), and i started with normal atx case. Then, with time, i found the benefit to go smaller and look for less without performance compromise (can travel easily with your pc, bring it to your mother house…, hide it in living room). Case where you want two iGPU or 8 hdd (of 20Gb) were important at the begining, (with 32*8 Mb of ram). But with the time, i used today to go with less components.
We use to change computer technologies too fast to keep an configuration for more than 8 years. So finally, i prefer just to have my computer, in my bag pack, with my vr case and it’s enough for me today. Even if i don’t do it often, i just want my living room, office room or bedroom to be just a place where relax and space is the first thing you feel.
