Best FPS Information?

Does anybody have a recommendation for a tool to view FPS & Processor Information on my screen as a screen overlay while I’m actively flying in MSFS ?

Uhmm. the built-in Developer mode?

To add on to this:
Settings->Developers->Devmode on->options on the upper tab->display FPS

What kind of graphics card do you have? Many GPU’s come with the option to overlay an FOS counter in the sim. I don’t like all of the extra information that the developer mode shows…

I have the Steam version of MSFS. I use its built-in fps counter.

I don’t see the appeal of having that fps counter overlay other than for testing purposes and graphics settings optimisation. I don’t know how people can live with having those counter on and counting during actual gaming.. But that’s just my personal question, I’m not in anyway trying to dictate anything to anyone.

i use the counter in Nvidia Geforce Experience - you can place the bug in any corner of the screen - just for FPS though - I don’t monitor temps or other data unless there’s a problem

And I forgot to mention. If you have the latest version of MS Game Bar, there’s an fps / stats counter in that as well.

The Class Echo panel also has a frame rate counter on it. I’m really surprised that it is not more popular than it is. I couldn’t imagine simming without it now to be honest…anyway that is off topic. Don’t be too concerned about your FPS as long as it is fluid.

I have a teensy frame counter in the upper left. It’s like your car. In very few instances do you actually need to know the RPM, but it’s nice to know it.

WindowsKey+G is how to access the Windows tool for such information.
Does not require a specific GPU brand of software or a 3rd-party application.
It may request permissions and require a restart.

The problem here though is you are chasing fps all the time. The devmode fps gives you what you need for setting up the graphics properties for flying, once done you turn it off. That’s the theory anyway!

Yeah, I agree. That’s why I mentioned not to be too concerned about FPS as long as it is fluid. Too many people are concerned about their frames. I was never able to fly in to JFK or LGA in FSX or P3D and have it not look like a slide show. In FS2020, I can fly into NYC with the FBW320 and average between 20 and 25 FPS and it is very smooth to me.

I don’t like OSD on screen. I have a tool called “Remote System Monitor Server Control” which launch when Windows start (no impact) and each time I want to monitor something from my computer (all hardware CPU/GPU/RAM/Disk/etc., processes, etc. customizable if you want) I launch an Android app smartly called “Remote System Monitor” and can see all I want on my phone. Oh and it’s free.

Yeah, there’s no need to quantify FPS. If it’s not comfortable, tone down some settings until you do feel comfortable. And that’s it. Doesn’t matter what the FPS is, as long as you feel comfortable, you’ll have fun.

Be aware that if you activate developer mode to use the built-in counter, flight time and achievements aren’t recorded while in dev mode.

HI Crunch, Thank you ! How do I access the built in FPS in the Steam ver. of MSFS ?

You access it from Steam.

Steam > Settings > In-Game

Then you choose what corner of the screen you want it displayed.

Note, this will show your fps on all your Steam games. There’s no way of making it specific to some titles and not others.
