Best mouse for MSFS <$35

What is the best mouse available to use with MSFS 2020 that is less than $35? Is there really that much difference between a “gaming” mouse and a “non-gaming” mouse? Is it really worth getting a mouse that is 1.5x - 2.0x the price? Have people found that a multi-button mouse with, say, 5 buttons can be used to great advantage with MSFS? Do multiple dpi settings make much of a difference or is the mouse set at one dpi setting and left alone? What is a sufficient dpi for an MSFS mouse?

Have a look at the Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless. Very good and very cheap. Or at least, mine was.

A five button mouse we could all use but 16,000 dpi and 1 milisecond response times are about as useful in MSFS as an ashtray on a motorcycle.

I turn mine down and don’t use higher resolutions, but with three screens that option is really useful and at 35 quid…

I switched back to a mid resolution cable mouse for photoshopping. Wasn’t prepared to pay 70,-€ or more for a mouse. It’s a Logitech M500, so not a gaming mouse

Thanks all for your comments! To summarize, the Corsair looks pretty nice, buttons would be useful and dpi is not very important, and it is not necessary to spend a lot on a gaming mouse.

If you have the ports Id get a usb mouse and not a wireless one. Wireless mice can be a pain when the batteries start running low…

I use two cabled Logitech G502 SE that I picked up in Amazon sales at about the price OP mentioned. One on PC, the other on the Series X. Both work fine.

I have a basic logitech wireless set and haven’t changed the single battery for months (at least 4) … there’s no way I would go back to a cable.

Although, (like you said) you don’t need all the doodads of a high end gaming mouse. I still highly recommend in going with Razer Mice!

I have 2 of them (Naga Hex, Basilik V2) and they are very well put together with zero issues.

I can show you a box of broken Logitech and other brands peripherals.

I have the HP Photon wireless mouse with the HP outpost mousepad with RGB, that I like and wireless charging built in! I charge my mouse by placing it on the mousepad, great battery capacity as I forgot to place it on the charger for a while and still had some juice, probably a 600-900Mah lipo in there? works great with MSFS I also have as a backup the wired Asus Tuf mouse, has nice Tuf RGB logo and came with the Tuf RGB keyboard combo for $45 USD. Both work well and look nice👍

Gaming mouse doesn’t have advantages in comparison with normal one. I can’t imagine scenarios where any of additional buttons will be used in flight simulator. For which actions we use mouse in MFS? I guess for: switching knobs, moving camera, zooming in/out. That’s it, nothing else. So high dpi and “gaming” capabilities of the mouse arr useless here. I don’t think that somebody is using mouse as a yoke on regular basis.

Couldn’t agree more.
In my opinion, a mouse should be almost as transparent to MSFS as the USB cable connecting the yoke to my PC.

Interesting discussion, though.

Me? I have found that the Logi “Pebble” M350 ticks all the boxes - price, flexible connections (both Wifi & Bluetooth), battery life, and reliability. It also has a nice low-profile, unobtrusive footprint.

You can check it out here:
Amazon.com: LOGI Pebble M350 Portable Wireless Mouse with Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz Receiver, Silent, Slim Computer Mouse with Quiet Click for Laptop, Notebook, PC and Mac - Graphite - Asian Version : Electronics

Update:
After a while, my M350 began making plasticky clicking noises in the scroll wheel.

Couldn’t fix it, so I upgraded to the Logitech M650 and I don’t regret it. It’s ambidextrous, very smooth, with ultra silent scroll wheel and clickers. It also has a couple of programmable buttons. It is both Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz compatible and uses disposable batteries (I dislike rechargeable computer accessories.)

Definitely a step or 2 up from my M350.

It’s presently available from several well-known sites on-line. I bought mine new for $20 (the best deal) here:

I guess that depends on your other peripherals, I don’t have 5 buttons but I would put them to use for the drone and possibly screenshots if I did.

It’s good idea, need to try.

Found yet another mouse, the Zelotes C-18 Vertical Gaming Mouse, and have been quite happy with it. It actually didn’t take long to get used to a vertical mouse but I’m not sure I’ll ever go back to a regular mouse.

This mouse is adjustable to 1500/2500/4000/700/10000 dpi. Although it is an RGB mouse and can be set to several different flashing/non-flashing multicolor patterns, I set to a steady blue and leave it there. But I like the precision of this gaming mouse.

It comes with software to program the buttons which provides some useful functions but it won’t always do what you want it to in MSFS. I don’t know if it conflicts with programmed functions in MSFS or something else. It could be just me. But I do have several useful functions programmed, especially for camera and drone movements.

A 4-way button can be operated by the thumb and defaults to the normally keyboard-assigned w, s, a and d functions. This works quite well.

Thanks to all who responded! I came to a much better understanding of what can be expected in a good mouse for MSFS.
