Best Nvidia driver for RTX 3090

Been away from the sim for over 6 months. I have Reverb G2 and had good performance with 457.30. I was also using the OpenXR toolkit. What is the current preferred driver?

Thanks in advance.

The latest 517.48 GRD goes well with the SU10 update we recently received.

thanks…now I need to install all the SUs lol.

Is 517.48 optimized for DX 11 or 12? Have guys switched over to DX12 now?

DX12 is more an issue of how well MSFS has implemented it and this latest nVidia driver supports it as well as it can for now.

Whether DX12 is worth using or not seems very system dependent, as some report great success and others, myself included, get better results with DX11. The only way to know for sure is to try it and see for yourself.

Do I still need the Open XR toolkit with DLSS DX11? I was running it in TAA about 6 months ago and got improved visual quality. I installed 517.48 yesterday along with SU10 etc and ran DX11 DLSS Quality without the toolkit and it was pretty smooth, although, it seemed the clarity was diminished in distance (LOD is 135).

You can still run Open XR toolkit with DLSS DX11, however I suggest you don’t use any of the upscaling options, like NIS or FSR, as they may conflict with what DLSS is trying to do. When I tried DLSS, I still used FFR and the anti-shake functions of Open XR toolkit with DLSS DX11 with good success.

Ultimately, I stopped using DLSS because, as welcome as the performance boost was, I found the quality of glass displays to be unacceptable so I am now back using TAA.

They say that the new 522.25 have DX12 optimizations for all RTX cards.

Done some tests last Sunday with the 522.25 driver and it seems to perform great. At least for me.
I’m running the 5950x with 3090 and 64GB 3600CL14 with Reverb G2.
With identical settings on DX 12 I got 31FPS with TAA and 46FPS with DLSS Quality on the Vancouver Intl airport.

Reading many other reports my conclusion is that DX12 seems only beneficial on the 3090(ti) as it seems to want to eat up your vRAM and since the 3090 is equipped with 24 GB of that it runs great. I noticed it utilizes about 14GB on my card. So having less available it bottlenecks. I’m liking what I’m seeing. Yes, I need to lean over more to the glass cockpits for reading more than before. These are slightly more blurry with DLSS than TAA for sure. I don’t mind that much and enjoy the smoothness as I like to enjoy the scenery more than the gages

I agree with you on this, 522.25 is the winner for both 3090 and 4090, on my sistem.
