Going to be getting the Reno expansion. I’m not buying the full package, but have decided I’m going to pick up an extra Pitts and a P-51, assuming there’s a performance difference, which I believe I read there is, and it’s not just liveries.
I’m looking for feedback on the races themselves, and on the Pitts S1 and P-51. I obviously want the best of each. Fastest, or if there is a handling component, I’d like to know the fastest, and the most balanced.

I believe for the actual racing the performance amongst competing aircraft is identical. It would come down to your preference what airframe you want for use outside racing.
As @VortecMalibu said, while racing, there’s no difference in performance between the planes.
In the sim however, though I haven’t personally taken the time to notice it, there are differences in performance between the planes.
A long time ago, they talked about allowing performance differences between planes in racing, but I imagine that’s at least a couple of years away in development.
It would probably be a good idea to go back to when Reno was released and watch the Developer’s Q&A’s around then where they discuss the subject. A lot of good information there if you’re concerned about your choice.
We don’t know you, so, asking us which is better Pitts or P-51… How can we know? Personally, I just bought the whole thing. And I haven’t even used it there’s so much to do in MSFS. I have flown the planes a few times in the sim, they’re fun.
Oh, I see. I thought they performed different in-race, as well. I see they are all the same in-race, but performance is different in free flight. Coulda Googled that part.
Is the racing fun? Matchmaking? You’re not waiting 15 minutes to start a half full lobby type thing?
I didn’t mean to say your question was bad, just need more information on what your preferences are. Of course the P-51’s are going to be faster than Pitts, but Pitts are going to be “more maneuverable” I guess you could say, so that could be more fun weaving between planes? So, it’s, different, between the planes. I think the bigger issue at this point if you’re into racing is going to be finding people to race with. I think there’s a Racing forum where this question might be better placed?

@N316TS How come there’s no “Reno” forum or subcategory (or at least one I can find)? The closest I can find is “Friends, Clubs, and Groups”, but that doesn’t feel right for discussing things Reno. And why isn’t General Discussion & Interestes listed under “Categories” on the sidebar?
I can tell you from my limited experience that Voodoo is one of the fastest of the P-51. You have to set the prop RPM just right however (3300rpm). This only applies to time trials, since the PvP modes have a performance equalizer.
Nice. Thanks for the input. I’m thinking ATM I’ll probably hold off on the additional planes. Finding people to race with? I assumed there was matchmaking. I guess I do need to Google this a bit. Figured it was like any other Multiplayer competition. I kinda hate watching YouTube informational videos unless I have to. Guess I have to. Thanks Again, Y’all.
