I am trying to stream msfs with obs but it’s so frustratingly unstable. I have a 3080 and i9 and the machine can’t do it. I am now thinking about streaming using Shadowplay but I want a webcam with a transparent background plus flylive overlay and my voice on my pro mic. Seems impossible unless I record msfs in shadowplay, and then record flylive and webcam in obs at the same time.
Problem is I get a black background on the obs file which contains the webcam and flylive overlay so cannot overlay it on the game footage (I was hoping it would act like png and have no background).
Does anyone know where I’m going wrong? I’m determined not to use OBS because the game is so good, and I want to use shadowplay.
Do you think this would be a good solution:
Record msfs using shadowplay
Record camera with phone and green screen
Record flylive and audio with obs
Remove camera green screen with ultra tool on premiere
Import all files into premier and sync/edit
Will that give me the best performance and quality?
Yea I also tried it and it fails most of the time!I just want to record my gameplay of msfs with my webcam and green screen. I understand the green screen part. The problem is that when I record it, the game stutters slightly in the recording and on game. Is msfs too demanding to record well in obs? I have a 3080 and i910900k with 64GB ram. I thought this system would be able to do this perfectly. Can you possibly help me with obs settings if it is indeed possible?
Are you using OBS or what are you using? Most of my issues with Streamlabs have been 1) my bitrate was too high or 2) my settings are too high in the sim. You have to scale back and compromise until you find the right balance. Sometimes widgets/overlays and background apps can impact performance too…
I guess I’ve been lucky so far. Have a lower spec machine than you (i5-10400f, 16gb, gtx1660) and I can record in OBS with my webcam playing the game, with no noticeable drop in performance in the game. Here’s an example. I’m running the game at 1080p and recording with a bitrate of 2500kbps with nvenc.
hig-ish. My lod has to be at 100. If I go 150, the sim can freeze at big airports like KATL, DFW etc…it’s best to find the settings that give you the best performance, but it will vary from system to system. Any streaming software will take some frame rates off the top and also place demands on the CPU/GPU in addition to the resources the sim and other apps in the background need too.
