This is right
MSFS is an OpenXR game. If youâre in VR, youâre using OpenXR.
The difference is that the major vendors (WMR, Oculus and Steam plus some others) have their own OpenXR runtimes.
Pico falls into Steam family so you must use Steamâs OpenXR runtime, which you are already doing, so youâre good.
Hope that helps to explain.
Thanks all for the help, I managed to get it all singing today, using the ethernet/USB-C is the best option and easy to set up.
ResultsâŠ
I was warned and also read plenty of times that I will need a 4090 card to do what I wanted - high-res and clear graphics in the cockpit allied with smooth motion.
I can now 100% agree with this, a 3080ti is nowhere near man-enough to rock this headset. The good news is that yes it can do what i wanted - all the cockpit clear to read in the CJ4, in fact it was stunningly clear on TAA. However, to produce that result I had to push the render resolution to at least 3500x3500 and that sadly gave me a vomit inducing 6FPS and something like 280ms of latency, plus it was also flickering very badly.
I would have loved to see what happens when you push render res even higher - this is a very good little budget VR set I think.
Apart from the results I got, the only other thing I can mark it down on is the poor âswimming gogglesâ effect - is that FOV? I could have lived with this but would be better without.
Anyway, its proved a point - my PC is not good enough for the VR experience I want so itâs back to my triple screen setup for me. Iâll probably sell the Pico4 as I donât really do much else in the gaming world, just FS2020, GTA5 and BeamNG.Drive - Iâm unlikely to start playing BeatSaber
Thanks to all those who helped with getting it going, much appreciated.
That leaves one last thought - does what I desire even exist yet?
High res, high clarity in cockpit, wide FOV, smooth motion at 60fps or more??
Itâs the clarity which most people coming into VR miss.
However, those of us who are converts are willing to trade that for the experience!
Iâm sure with some tweaking you can get better performance from your rig on the Pico, but you will have to sacrifice some detail to do so.
Yeah, i know i can if i want to but the trouble is, i just do not want to make the exchange I want both or nothing - Iâm used to extreme clarity on my triple setup with airmanager touch panels and I like to see all the buttons, knobs and displays just as you would IRL.
I like the 3d effect and yes itâs addictive but not to the point of losing the cockpit.
Iâm not bothered, it proved the point and maybe when i need to upgrade the PC in a couple of years, better VR will be there.
Yeah understood. We all like different things in the sim - itâs what makes it interesting!
Hi,
Have you tried the new SGSR in Virtual desktop?
Thanks, wasnât there back when i had the VR, maybe iâll try again sometime
Does it help. Or is it better to keep it at god like?
