Just bought f4f from sale. And there is something caloric in these overpowered bigradial warbirds. I wonder which one of them has the best sound (for now br goose is my comparison plane).
The Wildcat sounds good.
I’m hoping FI’s FW-190 gets audio from the late Paul Allen’s collection. It has the only flying original FW-190 which is powered by the only working original BMW-801 14-cyl. radial.
(I left this as a link because the video might violate the CoC. I just don’t know anymore. So better safe than sorry…)
To my ears, the best sounding radial engine planes in MSFS are (in no particular order):
- Big Radials Goose (not really a “warbird” but definitely a vintage era radial-powered plane and sounds terrific)
- GotFriends F4F-4 Wildcat
- FlyingIron F6F-5 Hellcat
- Blackbird FG1-D Corsair
- PMDG DC-6 (again not a warbird but powered by warbird-proven radial engines and also sounds great)
There are now two…
Cool! All the other restos I read about had a different engine (18-cyl Russian design, I think.)
It hasn’t made it to Stow yet. But, I’ve been working with them to help lay out a huge new wing to the current museum to house / display a huge portion of all their planes (around 61 aircraft throughout the museum is currently planned)(They’re working to the stage to where they can start gathering the funding required to build it, though that has already started to a degree).
