Best usable airliner for xbox?

I take off manually. I turn left to the direction of 190 degrees to CHANT. Climbing to a height of 3,000 feet. Next, I press autopilot with altitude, speed and direction hold. Next, I select the approach plan for runway 22L in FMC and click LOC for autopilot. I don’t remember exactly how this is done on the 787 in FMC, I haven’t flown on the 787 or 320neo for a long time. For the last two months I have been flying at the Cessna Citation Longitude and Cessna 152. I can watch it tonight after work (My time is +3 UTC)

And so. We board the Airbus320neo. Setting the initial autopilot settings. We set the departure and arrival airport KJFK. We choose the approach plan for the runway 22L. After takeoff, turn on the autopilot and press LOC. After that, the autopilot directs the plane to the first point of the plan - CIMBL. But we want to shorten the route and therefore we will fly immediately to one of the points where the approach begins. We look in the Flight plan, find the point. Next, go to DIR, select the desired point and fly…

I even recorded a short video for you @Majorlag9496

Why do you press LOC?

On Xbox - When flying airliners, I use the 737 Max and I like flying it. It had some major issues previously and still isn’t perfect but after the last update it flies much better, I probably use it 2 or 3 times a week. I personally like it better than the default A320, but thats me. ymmv

That’s good to hear about 737 max, I honestly saw so many negative reviews I hadn’t considered it but if it’s improved enough where it is better than the Asobo 747/787 maybe I’ll give it a try. I’ve been using A320 for a week pretty extensively and been happy with very few issues on xbox. I was going to give the 787 a try again next but will look for updated info on 737 max. How would you compare it to the Asobo 747 or 787 available in the game?

I’m not so sure I can recommend the 747-800 and it pains me that this is the case.

I have been flying it for the last couple of days with the specific purpose of putting together a tutorial for newer and veteran players, alike.

I chronicled my experience with it this morning after two days of testing.

Understanding 747 FMC & Autopilot Behavior - #25 by NixonRedgrave

It is absolutely usable, but it is rather inconsistent in its behavior.

I’d stick to the A320neo if your only choices are the stock aircraft. Of course, if you know how to work around the 747’s nonsense it is still fun to operate.

On the A320NEO incidentally are you able to use the buttons for speed and heading - what I mean is are you able to not fly in managed mode but using those two buttons. For the life of me i cannot get the mouse to control them

Yes, you need to experiment with the mouse. Mine needs maintaining the left button down while clicking the right one to get control of speed… not very intuitive but you get used to it.

I got mine to work by pressing the middle mouse button down

For XBOX some stock aircraft heavy metals are buggy. For example the Boeing 737 Max keeps loosing power automatically. I usually have no issues with the small private prop planes.

I raised this topic over 2 weeks and since then have spent many hours learning and flying the A320 successfully on xbox. The CTDs have mainly been with some 3rd party airports but otherwise it is very stable. I switched over to the 787 for a while to learn it (and it worked fine) but in the end much prefer the A320, especially with 4simmer liveries for north America (and hopefully Europe soon!).

Someday when I get a PC and can finally try the FBW A32NX I’m sure I’ll be amazed but as I don’t have access to that I don’t know what I’m missing.

@WasabiDad2405 try engine failure simulation on approach phase for variety

So it’s much better then…I’ve avoided it like the plague due to the poor reviews, especially with regards to the cockpit imagery.

Is it worth a second look?

It was decent enough a few weeks ago and I flew it a few times a week but it just got another update 1.67 and while trying to fly it with SU8 beta it will not function anymore. Not sure if this is a beta thing or if this plane update caused issues on the non beta sim version as well. Stay away for now…
