Beta 1.3.22 is so promising

Hello everyone,

Yesterday, I did a flight in the A330 from KSFO (FlightBeam) to KPSP (ini), and I was really impressed by this new beta. The work done on the quality of ground textures seems really significant to me—it’s so sharp and clean… wow.

Here are a few screenshots that might not fully convey the leap in quality:

(Keep in mind that screenshots are resied and compressed by the forum)

Of course, there are still some possible adjustments regarding tree management and photogrammetry, but overall, I think Asobo has found the perfect balance. Don’t touch this part anymore, guys—it’s so enjoyable!

Look at the quality of this golf green near Palm Springs—you can even see the mower tracks :hushed:

A word on performance: I had a minimum of 80 FPS throughout the entire flight, even at KSFO. I was experiencing VRAM issues in heavy scenery areas, zero on this flight, just perfect. I’m not sure if it’s related, but before the flight i have do:

  • Uninstalled the Nvidia application
  • Updated various Microsoft ASP and C++ libraries, like the ones below. (Take a screenshot of the packages that need updating, send it to ChatGPT, and it will provide all the links for the updates.)

And after that, running on Ultra (with a few minor tweaks) in 1440p uwqhd / DLSS4 - TLAA + FG, I + Beyonde ATC + FSLT ai traffic had truly amazing performance from start to finish. I did notice that the sky was mostly clear, which probably also played a role.

FS2024 is really promising, and I think that from SU2 onward, it will truly reach maturity. I also complained about FS24—I even reinstalled FS20… But the truth is, when everything works well, FS24 is a definite visual step up from FS20.

Look at the quality of the reflections on the fuselage… wow!

Well done, guys! You are on the good way

My specs :

  • RTX4080 Super (founder edition)
  • 32 GB RAM 6000MHZ
  • Ryzen 7 7800X3D

This has been my experience also, with a rig like yours. It’s amazing. And I’m not even using DLSS4.

So have they fixed the aggressive LOD problem with buildings, aerobridges, trees, and parked aircraft popping in late as you approach an airport ?

Have they fixed AI aircraft doing somersaults and spinning on taxiways at airports ?

Have they fixed ground vehicles taxiing through your aircraft as you taxi along ?

My first thought when reading this was “Oh wait I get it, surely this is a troll posting, right?”.
You are basically praising NVIDIAs DLSS (and rightly so), not SU1 beta which right now is at an all-time low regarding terrain texture quality and LOD. When it comes to performance I agree there has been progress.

I’m using TAA with frame gen on a 4090 and it looks fantastic to me.

At 4k all stuff on high or ultra, I’m getting 80 to 100 fps.

What? You cannot have both DLSS and TAA selected at the same time. Also, currently MSFS 2024 is not fully compatible with DLSS 4.

This is not my experience; I actually have good textures and good performance with this beta, and at least two of my friends have the same results.

If you’d like, give me specific instructions with an aircraft, an airport, and weather conditions, and I’ll let you know what results I get.

Just remember that your experience is not universal.

The SU1 does not focus on airport activity issues, and you know that—that’s why I mentioned that I believe a bigger gap will be made with SU2. As for the LODs, I haven’t noticed any issues.

Sorry, it’s a typo: DLSS4 / DLAA + FG.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

Not going to beta again. To much bugs that can kill your xp point and destroy your aircraft. There is no reset on beta, rember this because it can give you lots of troubles

What was the point of this? You are not telling us visual c++ libraries affect the game performance? Do you?

It looks good when it’s working but it s still not ready for a public release imo. One of the biggest issues I’m dealing with right now is long loading times and massive fps drops.

DLAA+DLSS4 still has ghosting on instruments.

We have similar specs. Only difference I’m using a 5800X3D!

Very promising to see reports of definitive improvements and actual screenshots (they look great).

But then we still have people saying it’s not ready for public release because there are too many bugs ? With how crossed people are these days it’s not even clear if they have tried the latest version or not ?

OP, what’s your experience on bugs ? Since you’re flying airliners, I’m very interested.

Have they done amything about the runways sometimes being blurry?!

You clearly missed the point of joining the beta. The whole reason to join is to help Asobo test the system and find bugs. It’s not meant as a pre-release finished product.

Given you found some issues, I hope you reported them? Bugs unreported go unfixed…

I’ve been using the beta since it came out, but other than just normally using the beta, I’m not sure what other ways there are to find bugs.

i always been in beta’s. But applying for a beta in msfs can results in loosing ships because of bugs. I am no crash test dummy. Nobel and great to find bugs for asobo but it can destroy your career completely. No thanks. The current version is almost beta if you see the amount of issue. no need to be a pre-beta tester. thank you guys for the sacrifices

I’m not saying you’re wrong for wanting to leave the beta. In fact that sounds like exactly what you should do!

When you join the Beta, you are directly telling Asobo you want to be a crash test dummy. And you’ll tell them about all the problems you find. So, absolutely, you should leave if that’s not what you want to be. And there’s nothing wrong with feeling that way.

Yes, that’s why it’s a beta build, they know there are bugs, and they want people to find them and help them get them fixed.
