The aircraft descriptions need to be improved just a bit. Take the DV20 Katana. In real life, it can come with either a 80hp engine or a 100hp engine. So naturally i wanted to see which option we get in the sim. And what does the description say about the engine? “1 Piston”. What does that even mean? An engine with 1 piston? And if it means that it has one engine that has pistons, then we can see that. Why would you tells us it has one engine?
An idea I have would be to have some sort of tab when you go into My Hangar that lists some of the V-Speeds for the aircraft you want to fly. The airliners will have variations on speeds generated by the FMS, but for smaller aircraft with V-Speeds that don’t change much, it’d be nice to have a place in-game to check them to better prepare for a flight.
A very minor thing but it would be nice to see things like rate-of-climb, time-to-altitude, takeoff roll and landing distances on the aircraft selection pages, and in the personal hangar.
For most of the GA planes you can find a POH pilots operating handbook as a pdf on the net. As most of the GA planes in FS are very recent the manufacturer have uploaded these. There you will find practically all information you need.
Often my flights are dependent on what type of avionics I feel like using during a flight. Being presented with this info on the aircraft selection page would be greatly beneficial.
I ended up creating my own list of the avionics used in each aircraft available in the various editions of MSFS2020. This has helped me focus on a set of avionics across a number of different aircraft, and here’s hoping it helps someone else too
How about an extra more detailed page on the hanger specifications page that you can go to? It should have as a minimum - standard CLIAS, minimum takeoff and landing distances, flap and gear extension speeds, etc. The world map should have the ability to prompt you if the airport you’ve selected isn’t operationally suitable for the airplane you’ve chosen. You’d still be able to fly it if you wanted to of course.
To identify if a given plane uses the sim’s native Navdata, or, if it uses Navaigraph and thus requires a subscription to update navdata. PMDG 737 is a good example of this. And, currently there is no way to even update the navdata on Xbox - it comes with v2204 which is almost 2 years out of date, and no way to update it.
To identify which version of the sim the plane is tested on and compatible with. Every other software platform with a marketplace has versions and compatibility listing requirements. A publication date would help, but verified version compatibility is really what is needed.
I think the conclusion is that they need to give developers a custom field where they can add any information they see relevant. Anyways, it’s been 3 and a half years. I doubt anyone cares much about this.
